While announced to much fanfare that US troops would be out of Afghanistan by September 11, US President Joe Biden left out whether the 18,000 mercenaries euphemistically called “contractors”, operating in Afghanistan would also go. The Taliban are not amused.
A new (even if rather old) face in the White House has led to the mistaken belief among some people that the US would return to normalcy now. Apart from some cosmetic changes, America’s policy of belligerence, militarism and exploitation is unlikely to change.
While most people have heaved a huge sigh of relief at Trump’s departure, reposing too much faith in Joe Biden would be a mistake. His record shows he is pro-war and a hardcore Zionist. He may even initiate a destructive war at the behest of the military-industrial-banking complex.
