The late Dr Kalim Siddiqui was an intellectual and activist. This month marks 27 years since he passed away on April 18, 1996. His legacy lives on in such institutions as the Institute of Contemporary Islamic Thought and Crescent International.
Crescent International was started as a community Muslim news-magazine in March 1972 in Toronto. Since then, it became famous as a monthly global news-magazine of the global Islamic movement analyzing current affairs within an Islamic paradigm.
Like most visionaries and revolutionary thinkers, Dr Kalim Siddiqui, who passed away on April 18, 1996, was far ahead of his times.

Dr Kalim Siddiqui was a leading intellectual of the 20th century. He was also a political activist who founded the Muslim Institute in London as well as established the Muslim Parliament of Great Britain of which he was the leader. He died 20 years ago. The ICIT and Crescent International are organizing a Memorial conference ot pay tribute to this great son of Islam.
تحلّ هذا الشهر، أبريل 2016م؛ الذكرى العشرون لوفاة المفكِّر والمنظِّر المسلم، الهندي الأصل والبريطاني الجنسية؛ الدكتور كليم صديقي. وهي كذلك توافِق ذكرى نشر كتابه الأخير، والأشهر على الإطلاق؛ «مراحل الثورة الإسلامية Stages of Islamic Revolution»، والذي انتهيت من ترجمته قبل عدّة أعوام في إطار مشروع ترجمة ونشر اﻵثار الكاملة للدكتور صديقي، ولكن حال الظرف السياسي في مصر دون نشره، لكني قد عزمت، بحول الله؛ على نشره في الخارِج قبل نهاية العام الجاري، وذلك تحت عنوان: «نظرية الثورة الإسلامية».
April 18 marks the twentieth anniversary of Dr Kalim Siddiqui’s passing away. He was one of the leading intellectuals of the last century blending intellectualism with political activism that created a unique personality.
Dr Kalim’s understanding of history went beyond the mere recording of events. He incorporated the understanding of broad trends and movements of social and political change, and the factors that influenced them to derive lessons for the future.
Colleagues and friends of the late Dr Kalim Siddiqui participated in a memorial conference on April 23 to pay tribute to his remarkable academic as well as social and political work. It was Dr Kalim's 20th anniversary since his untimely death in South Africa in April 1996. Rich tributes were paid to his great work that has inspired a generation of scholars and activists.

إن كان يرفض النظام السياسي الغربي المفروض على الأمة منذ رحيل الاستعمار العسكري المباشر، فإنه لا يلقي الكلام على عواهنه؛ بل يُبيّن بدقّة وحذق أستاذ العلوم السياسية، وبإخلاص المسلم، يُبيّن لم كان هذا الشكل من التنظيم السياسي مُناقضَا ليس لأهداف الأمة ومعرقلًا لمسيرتها فحسب؛ بل هو مناقض للإسلام ابتداء. لقد تنبأ صديقي بالكثير من الظواهر التي استجدت على الحركات الإسلاميّة منذ أواخر سبعينيات القرن العشرين. تنبأ بها ووصّفها وحدد مكامن الضعف والفساد فيها، ومكامن القوّة. بل إنه كتب ونظّر ل"الثورة الإسلاميّة" قبل انتصار الثورة الإيرانية بعدّة سنوات، فكان انتصارها تحقيقًا لبعض مقولاته الهامة، ودليلًا على نفاذ بصيرته. بمناسبة الذكرى العشرين لوفاة الدكتور كليم صديقي؛
