Dr. Kalim Siddiqui was a great man

Zahiruddin Sheikh

Letter writer Zahiruddin Sheikh pays tribute to the late Dr Kalim Siddiqui as a great man.

I wish I could have attended the memorial conference for the late Dr. Kalim Siddiqui held in Toronto. He was truly a great man and a visionary who struggled for the supremacy of Islam. I had the honor of meeting him on several occasions when I was privileged to attend the international seminars in London.

Those seminars were really inspiring. They brought together Islamic scholars, ‘ulama and activists from all over the world to discuss and reflect on the issues affecting the Ummah. Dr. Kalim was an international figure and through his vast global contacts, he was able to bring Muslims of all backgrounds on to a single platform. This was a remarkable achievement. London had actually become the centre of Islamic activities, thanks to Dr. Kalim’s sincere efforts through the Muslim Institute.

I am glad that Dr. Kalim’s colleagues and associates have continued his work through the Crescent International and the Institute of Contemporary Islamic Thought (ICIT). I pray to Allah (swt) to help you continue on the path of truth and justice and bless the soul of the late scholar and activist.
