The number of Palestinian children starving to death in Gaza is rising alarmingly.
With each new death, a new milestone of horror is reached.
Gaza’s Health Ministry reported on August 7 that nearly 200 people, among them 96 children, had died of starvation.
The World Health Organization (WHO) director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus shared other grim statistics.
He said that about 12,000 children younger than five were suffering from acute malnutrition.
These figures were for the end of July, the highest monthly figure ever recorded.
This is a deliberately-engineered famine by the zionist war criminals.
While increasing by the day, even these numbers do not accurately reflect the scale of suffering inflicted on Palestinians in Gaza, especially children.
Alex de Waal, one of the world’s leading experts on famine, and the director of the World Peace Foundation at Tufts’ Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, candidly admitted that “it’s impossible to know the true numbers.”
In an interview with New Yorker magazine, he said “there are an increasing number of children—probably in the thousands—that need to be in the hospital because they can’t eat food.”
He explained that “they have got to that stage of severe acute malnutrition where their bodies just can’t digest food. And so those kids need to be in intensive care.”
Let us understand what happens to the human body when there is starvation.
This is man-made and totally aviodable but for the genocidal zionists.
When the body does not receive nourishment, it begins to dissolve body fat to get energy.
In children, there is little body fat, so other organs are attacked: brain, heart, liver, kidney and the stomach lining.
The deterioration in stomach lining prevents children from being able to take in food.
Unfortunately, the few remaining hospitals in Gaza have been so badly damaged that they do not have the intensive-care capacity to deal with the crisis.
Let us consider some more statistics from Gaza.
1: 92% of buildings in Gaza were destroyed by April 2025, according to UN estimates;
2: Of Gaza’s 36 hospitals, only 19 are functioning partially;
3: Scores of doctors have been killed and/or imprisoned. They are being tortured in Israel’s notorious prisons;
4: There are more than 9,000 Palestinian prisoners (hostages in reality because they have been kidnapped from their homes) held in Israel’s dungeons and are being tortured. They face physical as well as sexual abuse.
5: While Gaza’s Health Ministry figures cite about 61,000 deaths since October 2023, the actual figure, according to the British Medical Journal, The Lancet, could be more than 344,000 or 20.7% of the population.
Its July 2024 study gave the figure of 186,000 deaths.
6: Most heart-wrenching is the slow and painful death of children from starvation as parents watch helplessly.
They pray that their children will die under bombing.
At least, their agony will be over quickly rather than the slow painful death due to starvation.
The Gaza Media Office reported that out of 600 trucks needed daily, the occupiers allowed only 92 trucks on August 6.
Considering that the blockade has gone on for months, people are being deliberately starved.
The inappropriately named Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), run jointly by the US and Israel, is a cynical ploy to deflect criticism of zionist crimes.
The distribution points are killing fields.
Since May when GHF was launched, more that 1300 Palestinians have been shot and killed at the various distribution points.
Now some Arabian and European regimes have also joined the cynical campaign of airdrops of food packages.
Why not force the zionist war criminals to open the borders?
The UN has hundreds of trucks laden with food packages lined along the Egyptian border.
The airdrops are meant to assuage public anger in various countries where people have been appalled by the pictures and videos of starving children.
While some Arabian regimes have established diplomatic relations with the zionist entity, others are being lined up to follow suit.
