US Complicit in Zionist Crimes Against The Palestinians

Ayman Ahmed

The day (March 16) Palestinians commemorated the twentieth anniversary of the brutal murder of American peace activist Rachel Corrie by an Israeli bulldozer in Gaza, Israeli occupation forces shot and killed four more Palestinians in Jenin. Rachel Corrie, 23, was crushed to death by an Israeli bulldozer as she attempted to prevent the demolition of a Palestinian home in Gaza’s Rafah refugee camp in 2003 (Zionist forces were still in occupation of Gaza in 2003 but were driven out of the tiny sliver of land in 2005).

The latest murders in Jenin brought the number of Palestinians killed this year to 85 including 16 children, making it the bloodiest year since 2000. Among those killed at Jenin were 16-year-old Omar Muhammad Awadin, Youssef Saleh Barakat Shreim, Nidal Amin Zaidan Khazem, and Louay Khalil Al-Zughair, according to the Palestinian health ministry. Eighteen people with gunshot wounds were hospitalized, four of them in serious condition, said the ministry.

There is little doubt that many more Palestinians will be murdered in the coming days as the neo-Nazis running the regime in Tel Aviv compete with each other as to who can kill more Palestinians. They have made no secret of their genocidal policy and are carrying it out systematically on a daily basis.

Itamar Ben-Gvir, the new security minister in the Netanyahu-led zionist regime, has authorized Israelis to arm themselves. They need no encouragement. After all, Israelis 18 years and older have to serve in the army. Then there are the heavily-armed illegal zionist squatters (bandits and thieves from North America, Europe and Russia), who continue to kill Palestinians without fear of arrest or accountability. Some Palestinians are run over by the squatters on the mere allegation that the car was coming at him.

Israel’s killing of Palestinians has become so frequent that such news hardly merits mention in most western media outlets. Had the situation been reversed and Palestinians had killed some Israelis, there were would be breast-beating in the west. Blood-curdling threats would be issued against the Palestinians and demands made of the puppet Palestinian Authority (PA) led by Mahmoud Abbas to ensure the Israelis are helped in arresting the culprits.

This is not speculation.

Consider this. On February 20, the Security Council unanimously adopted a non-binding and largely meaningless presidential statement, expressing “deep concern and dismay” with the announcement by the new Netanyahu regime that it intended to legitimize nine settlement outposts and approve more than 10,000 new housing units in settlements in the occupied West Bank. A much strongly-worded resolution, proposed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), was shelved when the US threatened to veto it. That Council resolution would have been legally binding.

Not that zionist Israel has ever cared for UN resolutions, binding or non-binding. As an outlaw regime, it treats Security Council resolutions with disdain. Since 1967, the Security Council has adopted 77 resolutions critical of Israel but that has not cramped Israel’s style. After each resolution—that is the ones that escaped US veto (81 resolutions have been vetoed by the US so far—the zionists have treated such resolutions with contempt. They have faced opprobrium for such criminal conduct. No other country would be able to get away with such brazen conduct.

Secure in the knowledge that the regime in Washington, of whatever political stripe, will prevent any negative fallout from such resolutions, they have continued their annexation of East Jerusalem and the Syrian Golan Heights. The acquisition of territory by force or war is illegal under international but the illegal regime does not allow such legal niceties to get in the way of its forcible eviction of Palestinians and taking over their homes and properties.

Palestinians resisting such illegal evictions are shot and killed or arrested and thrown into prison. They are branded as ‘terrorists’ as was evident from the February 20 presidential statement issued by the Security Council. The longest paragraph in the statement focused on ‘Palestinian terrorism’, no doubt dictated by the zionists and the Americans.

It ignored the fact that people under occupation have an inherent right to resist their occupiers “by any means necessary”, according to the UN General Assembly resolution (45/130). It also ignored the fact that zionist Israel has escalated violence against the Palestinians in recent years. Clearly, zionist terrorism is sacred.

This was again on display on February 26, when more than 300 illegal squatters stormed the Palestinian village of Huwara in the illegally-occupied West Bank. Howling like wild animals, they attacked Palestinian homes and properties. Scores of Palestinian homes were set on fire as well as several hundred Palestinian vehicles causing millions of dollars’ worth of damage.

More than 390 Palestinians were injured in the villages of Huwara, Zatara, and Burin. Some of them were shot, others were stabbed as well as hit with metal rods. One Palestinian, 37-years-old, was shot and killed.

Within days of the zionist pogrom in Huwara, this is what Israeli finance minister Bezalel Smotrich said: “I think the village of Huwara needs to be wiped out. I think the state of Israel should do it.” Following this open and blatant call to genocide, there was demand from more than 100 leading Jewish leaders that Smotrich should not be given a visa to visit the US. The American regime dismissed these calls and the zionist terrorist arrived in the country!

Does one need any more proof of American complicity in zionist crimes against the defenceless Palestinians?
