Zionist Israel has suffered a military defeat in Gaza. This has also led to political and geostrategic defeat for the settler colonial entity. Never before in its tortuous history has it faced such intrepid fighters as those comprising the Islamic resistance today. They have proved to be more than a match for the invading zionist army.
Lest some people point to the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza, it must be borne in mind that this is reflective of zionist frustration at not achieving their military or political objectives. When the Islamic resistance launched its daring operation on October 7, zionist rulers announced certain objectives before they would end the war.
They announced that until Hamas is eliminated, Israeli prisoners captured by Hamas are released and Gaza is ethnically cleansed, the war will continue. Ethnic cleansing was not publicly stated but clearly implied as various scenarios were floated. Not one of these objectives has been achieved. It is not for lack of trying.
The reason why Israeli rulers are continuing the war if they have already lost it is because of personal political survival. Benjamin Netanyahu is facing corruption and other charges and will be taken from the prime minister’s house straight to prison.
Here is evidence for Israel’s defeat from zionist sources. For the first time since Israel launched its onslaught on Gaza, military commanders have admitted that the army is suffering from a shortage of tanks, ammunition, and experienced officers.
These are the direct result of losses suffered in the war in Gaza. This was reported by the Israeli web portal Ynet on July 16.
The Israeli army was responding to a petition submitted to Israel’s High Court asking that female soldiers be integrated into tank units in the Armored Corps. These units will operate behind Hamas lines in Gaza.
In rejecting this request, the Israeli military said there was “… lack of many tanks that were damaged in the war and the lack of ammunition.” Further, that the armour, munitions and experienced officers were currently assigned to fighting in Gaza. These took precedence over using them to train female soldiers to be integrated into combat roles as part of an experiment.
Despite the US sending Israel an endless supply of 1,000 and 2,000 lb bombs since October 7, the zionists are running out of munitions. This shows how massively they have bombed Gaza. More bombs have been dropped on Gaza (70,000 tonnes) in the first six months than were dropped on Europe during the Second World War.
“In late April, Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor estimated that approximately 70,000 tons of bombs were dropped on Gaza, covering the six-month period between October 7 [2023] and April 24 [2024].” This was reported by the Turkiye-based Anadolu Agency on June 4, quoting the Geneva-based human rights organization.
Referring to Israeli losses, Ynet further noted: “This is the first time that the IDF (sic) admits that it lost tanks in the war in Gaza, suffers from a shortage of shells as well as many fighters and commanders who were wounded or killed in the battles.” The occupation army also mentioned “objective difficulties… as a result of the fighting in the Gaza Strip and on other fronts”.
It added that “many tanks were damaged, which are disabled at this stage and are not used for combat or training, and it is not expected that new tanks will be added to the Armored Corps anytime soon.”
Historically, Israel has waged short, brutal wars using overwhelming fire power to subdue opponents. This was the case with Arab armies as witnessed in 1967 and 1973 wars.
The June 1967 war lasted a mere six days and Egypt lost the entire Sinai Peninsula and the Gaza Strip. The Jordanian army fled from Jerusalem abandoning al-Masjid al Aqsa as well as the entire West Bank, and the Syrian army lost territory on the Golan Heights. The October 1973 war lasted a little longer—from October 6 to 25—but the net result was another humiliation for the Arab regimes.
One other point is in order before turning to the situation the zionist army is facing in Gaza. Like Israel, the Arab armies are equipped with tanks, planes and missiles. Compare that to the Islamic resistance in Gaza and a different picture emerges.
They have neither tanks nor planes. They are besieged from all sides but have managed to make missiles and other small arms at home. That is about all they have and plenty of dedicated fighters who are not afraid to die for their cause.
Despite the zionists’ preponderance in weapons, “Israeli soldiers are plagued by nightmares, the economy is collapsing and diplomacy eroding, former Israeli defence minister Avigdor Lieberman said on July 15,” as reported by Anadolu Agency.
“Nine months have passed since the deadly surprise attack by Hamas on the state of Israel and its people, and it seems as though nothing has changed within the Israeli leadership,” Lieberman wrote in an article published on the Israeli news site, Walla.
“Children and adults, soldiers and reservists are suffering from nightmares about what has happened and what might happen. The Israeli economy is collapsing, and Israeli diplomacy is eroding,” the leader of the right-wing opposition, Yisrael Beiteinu Party, added.
In recent weeks, Israeli rulers have threatened to obliterate Lebanon subjecting it to an even worse fate than Gaza. That is quite a threat. The entire structure of Gaza has been destroyed. People are forced to move from one locality to another only to be bombed and murdered by Israel.
Most Palestinian families—the ones that have survived the ongoing genocide so far—have had to move 8 or 10 times. Some are so exhausted that they refuse to relocate, preferring to die where they are.
Referring to the Lebanese front and tensions with Hizbullah, Lieberman said: “The north is desolate and scorched; Iran continues to arm itself; and while all this is happening, the corrupt government continues as if nothing has happened.”
Israel’s economic losses are equally huge. Since October 7, at least 46,000 businesses have shut down. The Israeli risk management firm CofaceBdi estimates that 60,000 businesses will be closed by the end of 2024. There are already massive job losses that will increase if the war continues.
Additionally, 50% of workers at the Israeli port of Eilat have been laid off due to repeated drone and missile strikes by Yemen’s Ansarallah. Israel’s economic losses have been compounded by Ansarallah’s targeting of Israeli-bound ships in the Red Sea. Not surprisingly, more than a quarter of Israeli citizens are contemplating emigrating abroad, according to a recent poll.
With its much-vaunted army defeated, its economy in ruins and deep political divisions internally, what kind of a future awaits the zionist entity?
