Donald Trump, the convicted felon and sex predator, is back as president of the United States.
There are many factors that led to his return to the White House but the most important is that the American establishment blinked in the face of his threats.
For weeks leading to the election, Trump had threatened to start a civil war if he lost.
The establishment took these threats seriously.
Given that there are more than 320 million guns in the hands of the American people—most of them with militias who are hardcore Trump supporters—the threat of violence was real.
Leading to the election on November 5, The Washington Post had an alarmist headline about “drones and sharp shooters” posted on buildings in case of violence.
This could only be instigated by Trump supporters as they did on January 6, 2021.
When Trump was asked whether he would urge his supporters not to indulge in violence if he lost the election, he refused.
He simply stated: “My supporters are not violent”.
Speaking to reporters at Mar-a-Lago early this morning (November 6), Trump said he will “heal” the nation.
He also promised to create the greatest economy in the world and to make life more affordable for working Americans.
He returned to his favourite theme of “fixing the borders” by launching a mass deportation of undocumented, and even some legal, immigrants.
In due course, he is bound to claim he will be the greatest president America has ever had.
It is the threat to use his powers as president, claiming that presidents enjoy unlimited authority, to go after his “enemies” that has many people worried.
Trump will enter the White House with a long enemies’ list.
His first act is likely to be the dismissal of special counsel Jack Smith.
This would mean Trump would pay no political price for trying to overthrow the 2020 election results.
Smith also investigated Trump’s financial irregularities and payment of hush money to Stormy Daniels, a prostitute, with whom he had an illicit affair.
Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer turned prosecution witness, must also be shivering in his boots.
Others who should be looking over their shoulder include Liz Cheney, Joe Biden, Barack Obama and people in the media that Trump considers enemies.
A brief analysis of Trump’s victory is in order.
Among the swing states that he won, there is proof that Muslims played a significant role, especially in Michigan.
They may not have voted for Trump but by not voting for Kamala Harris, it ensured the Donald’s victory.
Muslim American voters were upset with the Democrats’ refusal to bring about a ceasefire in Gaza or stop the flow of weapons to Israel.
While Trump will not do any such thing either—he is even more pro-zionist than Biden—Muslim Americans have delivered an important message to the Democrats.
Their vote cannot be taken for granted.
On the international front, Ukraine is likely to be toast.
Trump has vowed to stop the flow of money and weapons to Ukraine.
He would rather make a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin with whom Trump had been in regular contact all these years.
There are also celebrations in Arab capitals with camel meat being distributed among the poor at the return of the Donald.
Two rulers in particular are pleased: Muhammad bin Salman (MbS) and Muhammad bin Zayed (MbZ).
The Abraham Accords may not be back on track yet but Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, will soon be descending on the region clutching plans for building luxury apartments and hotels on Gaza’s waterfront after the zionist destruction of the enclave.
These may not materialize.
From the crushed bones of the people of Gaza will emerge new fighters that will put paid to all the fancy development schemes of the zionists.
While fearful European rulers have rushed congratulatory messages to Trump, reaction from different segments in Pakistan is detached from reality.
The Pakistani establishment is apprehensive about Trump’s return but Imran Khan’s supporters are celebrating.
They believe their leader will soon be released from prison.
This is completely misplaced.
No such thing will happen.
Pakistanis will have to struggle for their rights inside the country and banish the goons in uniform back to the barracks.
There is no substitute for hard work.
Misplaced hopes will lead them nowhere.
