Tenuous ceasefire comes into effect in Gaza

Crescent International

This is what the Palestinians found today as they moved north into Gaza City. Almost every building has been destroyed by the zionist war criminals.

After more than two years of relentless bombardment that killed or maimed hundreds of thousands of innocent Palestistian civilians, a tenuous ceasefire went into effect today at 12 noon local time in Gaza.

How long will it last is a question on every Palestinian’s mind because of the bloodymindedness of the indicted war criminal, Benjamin Mileikowsky (aka Netanyahu).

Khalil al-Hayya, the head of Hamas’s negotiating team, said the Islamic resistance has received guarantees from the United States and mediators that an agreement on a first phase of the ceasefire deal means the war on Gaza “has ended completely”.

This was one of the conditions demanded by Hamas and other resistance groups in view of the duplicitous nature of the zionist war criminals, especially Mileikowsky.

A ceasefire agreed in January 2025 was violated once Hamas released a batch of Israeli prisoners.

In March, the zionist war criminals resumed their barbaric attacks on Palestinian civilians as they were sleeping, killing hundreds of them in a few hours.

It is such criminal conduct of the zionists that worry most Palestinians.

Will they resume their barbaric attacks once their prisoners are released?

This cannot be ruled out but for now, the Islamic resistance has been assured by the US and other mediators that the ceasefire is permanent.

As part of the first phase of the deal, the zionist occupation army pulled its troops, tanks and armour behind the agreed upon line.

This prompted the movement of thousands of Palestinian families from the southern parts of the enclave to the north.

The Gaza civil authority immediately moved into areas vacated by the zionists to assess damage and maintain order.

Hundreds of bodies have been recovered from the bombed out buildings in the first few hours as people moved into their destroyed homes and buildings.

Under the terms of the deal, Hamas will release Israeli prisoners it is holding in Gaza in 72 of the ceasefire.

It will also release the bodies of slain prisoners murdered by Israel during its relentless bombing.

Israel’s deliberate bombing of civilians, even those sheltering in tents in areas designate by the zionists, has killed more than 67,200 Palestinians.

The actual death toll is many times higher.

The largest victims are children and women.

The Gaza authorities have called for an independent, international committee to launch an immediate investigation into zionist war crimes and genocide during the two-year war.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Mileikosky (Netanyahu) and former war minister Yoav Gallant.

They strut about in western capitals without fear of arrest in clear violation of international law confirming complicity of western regimes in zionist crimes.

Meanwhile, United Nations agencies have called on Israel to immediately open all crossings into Gaza to allow desperately needed humanitarian aid.

More than 160,000 tons of food is ready to be delivered immediately to the starving Palestinians.

The zionists have allowed a small number of trucks into Gaza since the ceasefire went into effect earlier today.

Full-scale deliveries will reportedly begin on Sunday October 12.
