Both Hizbullah and Islamic Iran have made it absolutely clear that they will retaliate for the terrorist attacks on their capital cities by the zionist regime.
The July 30 and 31 attacks resulted in the assassination of two prominent resistance leaders.
Hizbullah senior military commander Fouad Shukr was martyred in southern Beirut while Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh was martyred in Tehran.
Both attacks were grave violations of the respective countries’ sovereignty.
In Tehran, the zionists attacked an “honoured guest”, something considered a grievous breach of their honour.
Iran cannot allow such an attack to go unpunished.
What form, where and when it will occur is the subject of intense speculation.
The US regime has been trying to send messages to Tehran to not “escalate” and to show “restraint”.
One would be hard pressed to find any evidence of the Washington warlords advising the zionist war criminals to show restraint.
Instead, the US has sent more than $18 billion worth of weapons, especially missiles and bombs, to the zionist aggressors since October 7, 2023.
Beyond such hypocrisy, let us see what is the ground situation in the zionist entity.
Israeli media outlets (Haaretz, for instance on August 7) reported that settlers in the strategic port city of Haifa in northern occupied Palestine are extremely worried about potential retaliatory strikes from Iran and Hizbullah.
Their worry stems from the fact that Haifa has many petrochemical factories which contain hazardous materials.
An Iranian or Hizbullah missile strike on any of these factories would release poisonous chemicals into the atmosphere with potentially thousands of zionist settlers suffocating to death.
What is equally worrying for them is the fact that they do not know when the strike would occur.
Their situation is akin to a person guilty of murder and taken to the gallows.
With his hands and feet tied, a black hood is placed over his face and the noose put around his neck.
The normal procedure would be to pull the lever to open the trap door beneath his feet.
He will plunge into the chamber below as the rope breaks his neck.
But imagine this scenario.
The lever is not pulled and the murderer is left standing on the trap door.
He knows it can happen any moment but he does not know when.
Every moment that he spends there is like death for him.
He stands in absolute fear aware that he cannot escape death but the uncertainty is killing him.
The zionists are facing a similar situation.
They know the missiles are coming but they do not when and where.
As Hizbullah leader Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah said, “Yavaash, yavaash” (wait, wait!).
“Wait is part of the punishment,” said Seyyed Nasrallah.
Haaretz pointed to a 2022 survey by the regime’s ministry of environmental protection that reported the presence of “1,500 dangerous sources and 800 types of hazardous materials in Haifa Bay.”
It is a target-rich city populated by settlers who fled from occupied northern Palestine fearing Hizbullah attacks.
Haifa has many residential buildings as well as “military installations near the buildings.”
There is also a gas farm located nearby.
Israeli media outlets are adding to people’s panic, although unintentionally.
For instance, the Hebrew-language newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the worst-case scenario for the Israeli military would be a “coordinated, swift assault from both Iran and Lebanon.”
It speculated that Hizbullah’s reaction “will be powerful but focused on military targets in the north, possibly concentrating on the Haifa area, which houses several IDF (sic) bases and strategic facilities.”
It went on to say that the Knesset, the prime minister’s office and residence, the ministry of war in Tel Aviv, air force bases, spying bases and headquarters of Mossad and Shin Bet would be possible targets for Iran and Hizbullah.
Fearing this, the Israeli internal intelligence agency, Shin Bet has built an underground bunker for Netanyahu.
He can run but he cannot hide!
In a piece on August 6, Politico pointed to “fatigue and frustration” among the Israeli military to respond effectively to a coordinated attack from Iran and Hizbullah.
Further, there are not enough Iron Domes in the world to intercept every missile fired at Israel, said Politico.
Both Hizbullah and Iran have hundreds of thousands of missiles that can reach any part of Israel.
Iran has hypersonic missiles that the Iron Dome cannot intercept.
Besides, if enough missiles are fired simultaneously, the Iron Dome will be overwhelmed.
Its maximum interception rate, even in ideal conditions is 70%.
If 1,000 missiles are fired, at least 300 or more will get through.
The devastation would be massive.
Israel also faces another vulnerability.
Settlers from northern occupied Palestine as well as the southern part bordering Gaza have fled and come to Tel Aviv.
Thus, even if two cities—Haifa and Tel Aviv—are hit, it will result in massive casualties.
It is certain that unlike the April 13/14 Iranian strike, this time it will not be confined to military bases, given the severity of the zionist crimes.
“Yavaash, yavaash” (wait, wait), as Hizbullah chief Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah said.
The wait itself is killing the zionists!
