While the Western corporate media regularly berates Muslim governments for real or imagined misconduct, Muslims don’t automatically label such criticism as driven by Islamophobia.
This is not the case with the Zionists, who paint all criticism of Israel as anti-Semitic.
There is another, largely ignored aspect of the incessant anti-Semitic allegation by Israel’s supporters. Israel itself is one of the most anti-Semitic regimes in the world.
It is a political and social ally of many extremist right-wing groups in Europe and elsewhere (India, for instance, or many right-wing regimes in the Middle East).
Israeli racism towards Jewish people in its midst is institutionally organized and not new. In January 2019, it was reported that “Mizrahi Jewish academics and activists demanded that Israel’s High Court strike down the Jewish Nation-State Law, saying it erases their cultural legacy and perpetuates injustices against both them and Palestinian citizens of Israel.”
Ethiopian Jews in Israel are openly mistreated based on racism. According to the BBC, “in the 1990s the Israeli national blood bank had routinely destroyed blood donated by Ethiopian Israelis for fear of HIV”.
This policy was clearly driven by the racist notion that Africans are responsible for the spread of AIDS.
Zionist racism towards African Jews is so blatant that even the Israeli media has been forced to report it in order to maintain a veneer of objectivity.
While there are many second-tier reports on racism towards Jews by Israeli Zionists, one of the most comprehensive studies is published in the academic journal of the University of California Press, titled Zionism’s Internal Others: Israel and the Oriental Jews, by Dr. Joseph Massad.
There are other studies of Zionist racism toward non-white Jews.
Dr. Dafna Hirsch of the Open University Israel wrote that “Dr. Asher Goldstein in the Hebrew daily paper Haʾaretz (The Land) in 1935, lamenting the disregard for hygiene among Palestine’s Jews. In Goldstein’s text, hygiene is metonymic to Western progress, which the Jews were to bring with them to Palestine. Yet the Jews in this text occupy an ambivalent position: they are not only to bring the West to the “entire backward Orient” but also to themselves. A hygienic way of life, far from being a secured component in their cultural compendium, is presented as a goal yet to be achieved. Indeed, it constituted a project in which Dr. Goldstein—author of several hygiene manuals and editor of the health column in Haʾaretz—played an important role.”
A quick Internet search produces credible data of how the current Israeli leadership actively cooperates with far right-wing groups in Europe.
One would, however, need to dig a little deeper to understand the spin put on this natural alliance of two racist entities.
In February 2019, the Foreign Policy magazine wrote that Theodor Herzl was willing to tolerate Europe’s far-right and that “the leaders of today’s far-right parties have gone to great lengths to distance themselves from such anti-Semitism [read criticism of Israel].”
Essentially hinting that it is fine for them to be racist towards others.
According to prospect magazine, “in 2017, after intense lobbying by the Hungarian Jewish community, Israel’s ambassador in Budapest warned that the anti-Soros campaign ‘not only evokes sad memories but also sow[s] hatred and fear’.”
He was immediately slapped down by head office.
A firm retraction added condemnation of Soros as someone who continuously undermined Israel “by funding organizations that defame the Jewish state.”
While Zionists systematically discriminate against non-white Jews in Israel, pro-Israeli lobbyists should think twice before labeling criticism of Israel as anti-Semitic.
This will come to haunt them because Israeli racism is real. In March 2018, Israel’s chief Rabbi, Yitzhak Yosef, described African-Americans as monkeys saying that “We don’t say a blessing for every negro….If you know, they had a monkey for a son, they had a son like that.”
It should be borne in mind that in 1975 by a vote of 72 to 35, with 32 abstentions, the United Nations General Assembly declared Zionism to be a form of racism.
Unfortunately, this resolution was revoked in 1991 under US threats and pressure. The US with its own horrific record of racism is hardly in a position to lecture others about morality.
Such revocation has perhaps led Israel’s Justice Minister, Ayelet Shaked to post on Facebook that “the entire Palestinian people is the enemy… including its elderly and its women, its cities and its villages, its property and its infrastructure.”
