Winners and losers in Israel’s war on Gaza

Editor

Zionist Israel was not the only loser in the eight-day war on Gaza. Almost all the Arabian regimes as well as Turkey also lost. The clear winners were Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Islamic Iran and Hizbullah.

Israel was not the only loser of the eight-day war it launched against defenceless and besieged Gaza. Hamas emerged a clear winner. What about other winners and losers?

Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak announced on November 26 that he was quitting politics and will not contest the January 22, 2013 polls. Opposition politicians have also demanded Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s resignation. The two men and a number of Israeli commanders should be put on trial for war crimes.

There are also losers on the Arabian side. Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Jordan came out as clear losers. The Israeli onslaught not only exposed them as cowards — yet again — but also as agents of Zionism and imperialism. Their silence in the face of Zionist crimes speaks volumes for their policy. Even Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan lost. His Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu admitted on November 26 that during Israel’s attack on Gaza, his government was in touch with the Zionists.

So who else won on the Muslim side? Apart from Hamas and Islamic Jihad, the Palestinian resistance movements, Islamic Iran and Hizbullah emerged clear winners. They emerged as true defenders of the Palestinians’ rights. Palestinian leaders publicly acknowledged Iran’s tangible support for their struggle during their press conference in Cairo, much to the embarrassment of their Arabian hosts.

Crises have a way of exposing people by revealing their true intentions. Israel’s war on Gaza has done just that.
