Tribute to Shaheed Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah on the Anniversary of his Martyrdom

Iqbal Jassat

Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, the great martyr, spent his life in struggle for freedom and justice for the people of Lebanon, Palestine and all the oppressed people

September 27, 2025 marked one year since the illegal occupation regime in Palestine unleashed its devilish bombs targeting Hizbullah’s headquarters in Beirut.
The following day, Hizbullah confirmed the martyrdom of its Secretary General, Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah.

A few weeks later, as testament to the resilience and organisational capacity of Hizbullah, Sheikh Naim Qassem was appointed to lead the movement and continue the legacy of Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, the martyred leader.

The zionist regime led by war criminal Mileikowsky (aka Benjamin Netanyahu) and his criminal gang of warlords, falsely believed that by unleashing US-sponsored weapons of mass destruction to martyr Nasrallah and key leadership of Hizbullah, the resistance would collapse.

To their utter dismay given their false bravado and self destructive naive policies, Israel has had to learn that under Nasrallah’s leadership, Hizbullah emerged as a significant political and military force in the region.

I was privileged to have been in Iran as a guest of the leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini during 1982, when the momentous heralding of Hizbullah marked a turning point for the Resistance.

History records that in 2000, Hizbullah succeeded in driving Israeli occupation forces from much of Lebanon, following the zionist regime’s 18-year brutal occupation (1982-2000).

It was a decisive victory especially in the aftermath of Ariel Sharon’s massacre of Palestinians in the Sabra and Shatilla refugee camps in South Beirut in September 1982.

In addition to the liberation of Lebanon and the freeing of prisoners from the notorious zionist-run concentration camp at Khiam where torture was rampant, Hizbullah’s status as a formidable resistance movement grew across the Arab and Muslim world.

Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah’s impact was not limited to the Lebanese arena.

It transcended borders to become both a symbol and leader of the Resistance against American imperialism and zionist colonialism.

Palestinian Islamic resistance movements have graciously acknowledged Nasrallah’s pivotal role in supporting and providing them with logistical support, military training and weapons.

Indeed his historic decision to support the resistance in Gaza during the Al-Aqsa Flood battle had a great impact in enhancing the capabilities of the Palestinian resistance.

Hizbullah’s commitment to Palestine’s freedom struggle was embedded in its doctrine.

Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah’s legendary leadership was characterised by his emphatic belief that the liberation of Al-Quds is both a legal and moral duty.

It is heartening to note that commemorative events are being held across the world to pay tribute to the great martyr.

At one such event held a day ago at the site of Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah’s martyrdom, in Harat Hreik’s Al-Amaliyya Street, thousands of mourners and supporters gathered to commemorate and honour the “Master of the Nation’s Martyrs”—alongside a group of comrades who fell with him.

According to Al-Manar TV, the event was a gesture of loyalty and gratitude for the immense sacrifices and jihadist legacy of Seyyed Nasrallah and his companions, who fought in defense of the resistance, the Palestinian cause, and the right to confront occupation.

A befitting tribute is to affirm an undying commitment to the path of resistance, steadfastness in the legacy of the martyrs, and a pledge to uphold the values and principles embodied by the late leader.

Leader of Hamas, Khalil al-Hayya, who along with Khalid Mishal and other senior leaders narrowly escaped Israel’s assassination attempt in Qatar, held the martyr in extremely high regard.

In his tribute, he held a firm conviction that the martyr Hassan Nasrallah left behind him strong men who will carry the banner after him, completing the march towards Al-Quds and continuing their participation in the Al-Aqsa Flood and supporting Gaza in its battle.

“Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah was martyred after a life full of sacrifice and resistance in which his son and loved ones were martyred, and he never weakened but rather continued to work in all fields in defense of the dignity and sovereignty of this nation, at the heart of which is Al-Quds and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, until he achieved what the free and honorable people wish for with his martyrdom on the path of thorns,” said al-Hayya.

In his tribute, Secretary-General of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) Ziayd al-Nakhalah described Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah as the “Master of martyrs of Palestine that holds a special place in the hearts of Palestinians”.

In his opinion shared by many across the world, Hizbullah continues to stand as a supporter of the Palestinian resistance.

This indeed is a great legacy of the “Master of martyrs”, Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah.
