Takfiri terrorist leader al-Baghdadi hit in Iraqi air raid?

Crescent International

If Iraqi military claims are true, the takfiri terrorist outfit, Daesh (aka as ISIS/ISIL) may have been dealt a severe blow. The Iraqis said they hit the convoy of takfiri leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi as he was heading for a meeting with senior commanders in Anbar Province. The meeting venue was also hit and a number of commanders killed. Bombed by Russia in Syria and hit by the Iraqis, the takfiris are on the run.

The Iraqi military said in a statement today that the convoy of Ibrahim al-Samarrai (aka Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi), leader of the takfiri terrorist group Daesh, was bombed by the Iraqi air force. The air strike was carried out in western Anbar Province as the terrorist leader was heading to a meeting with senior commanders of the group following punishing strikes by Russian air force in Syria.

"The Iraqi air force carried out a heroic operation targeting the convoy of the criminal terrorist Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi," Iraq's security forces said in a joint statement.

Iraqi media outlets have reported that the terrorist leader was injured but quickly whisked away from the area to an unknown location. Both the nature and severity of his injuries remain unknown at present. The Iraqi military statement further said that information on the movement of the terrorist leader was obtained through intelligence enabling the air force to carry out the strike.

The Iraqi Air Force also reportedly targeted the venue of the meeting in Anbar Province where senior terrorist commanders were gathered awaiting al-Baghdadi’s arrival.

If reports of al-Baghdadi’s injuries are true, this would be a serious blow to the terrorist outfit that have caused havoc in large parts of Iraq and Syria since they erupted on the scene in June 2014.

The takfiri terrorists are being squeezed by Russia that has carried out precise bombing raids degrading their ammunition dumps and hideouts. Russian media have reported that many terrorists have started to flee into Turkey that provides them sanctuary, to escape being hit by Russian planes.

Reports from Iraq say that the takfiri terrorists have executed about 60 of their members because they were fleeing in the face of heavy shelling by Iraqi security forces.

Targeted by Russian bombing raids in Syria and Iraqi artillery and air strikes in Iraq, the takfiri terrorists are clearly on the run. Even their patron saint, the US, cannot do anything for them.

As for their financial and ideological godfathers—the Wahhabi obscurantists—they are engrossed in their own internal and external problems to be able to offer much help.

If the Iraqi air force and army can continue their operations in Anbar Province, the Russian air strikes will degrade the terrorists’ capacity in Syria. This would lead to the crippling if not complete decapitation of the most ruthless terrorist outfit in the region.

Their only escape route is Turkey where President Recep Tayip Erdogan continues to support the terrorists but he may soon reap the consequences of this ill-conceived policy when elections are held next month.

Most Turks are not in favor of Erdogan’s policy and wish to have nothing to do with the terrorists. This was reflected in the June elections when the AKP was denied a majority in parliament.
