Turkey's shooting down of a Russian plane over Syria has dangerously escalated tensions in an already volatile region. Fearing its consequences, Turkey has also requested a meeting of Nato ambassadors. This exposes Nato and its allies' support for the terrorists in Syria. No amount of rhetoric can camouflage this fact.

By shooting down a Russian jet in the Syrian-Turkish border region, Ankara has firmly established itself as the air force of the takfiri terrorists. It was already providing logistical, material and other kind of support to the terrorists that have caused havoc in Syria on behalf of their US-Zionist-Saudi sponsors.
Downing of the Russian jet today evoked a strong reaction from President Vladimir Putin. He described Turkey’s aggression as a "stab in the back" and described Turkey as an accomplice of the terrorists. It is clear that Turkey had closely coordinated with Nato member countries that are using the Muslim country as a doormat for their dirty policies.
"This event is beyond the normal framework of fighting against terrorism. Of course our military is doing heroic work against terrorism... But the loss today is a stab in the back, carried out by the accomplices of terrorists. I can’t describe it in any other way," Putin said.
The Russian president warned that the downing of the Russian plane—SU 24—would have "serious consequences" for Moscow-Ankara ties. "Neither our pilots nor our jet threatened the territory of Turkey. This is obvious. They are fighting terrorists in the northern areas around Latakia, where militants are located," he added.
A Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was much more blunt and described the shooting of the Russian plane as “a very serious incident.” The Russian defence ministry also summoned the Turkish defence attaché in Moscow after the downing of the plane handing him a stiff note of protest.
The Turkish attack on the Russian plane that Moscow insists was inside Syrian territory occurred a day after Putin had a detailed meeting with the Rahbar, Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei of Iran. The Tehran meeting and the deepening ties between Iran and Russia are viewed with alarm by Nato countries, especially the US, Zionist Israel, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
Aware that its act of aggression against Russia would have serious repercussions, Turkey immediately requested a meeting of Nato ambassadors. "At the request of Turkey, the North Atlantic Council will hold an extraordinary meeting at (1600 GMT),” a NATO official said today.
Ankara will inform its NATO allies about the downing of the Russian aircraft. “NATO is monitoring the situation closely. We are in close contact with Turkish authorities,” the official said.
Turkey’s act of aggression, almost certainly at the behest of Nato, is a dangerous escalation of an already tense situation in the region. Russia’s bombing of takfiri positions in Syria has exposed the hypocrisy of Nato and its regional allies. They are the ones supporting the takfiri terrorists.
President Putin added: "I don’t know who was interested in what happened today, certainly not us. And instead of immediately getting in contact with us, as far as we know, the Turkish side immediately turned to their partners from NATO to discuss this incident, as if we shot down their plane and not they ours."
