Sectarianism is the ideology of losers, says letter writer but ulama must play an effective part in confronting this menace.
Sectarianism is the ideology of losers. Unable to offer anything constructive to Muslims to improve their lot, they resort to crude depictions of the “other” as alien. Sectarian discourse serves to recruit more people into what are essentially political disputes. The principal backer and financier of sectarianism is the Saudi regime. It is a clever ploy: unable to justify its Wahhabi ideology, it uses this crude tactic to divide Muslims. It is for enlightened Muslims, especially the ‘ulama to confront this menace with hikmah.
