Saudi King roadblock to progress

Mohammed H. Siddiq

Saudi King Abdullah is the real block to any progress in the kingdom but he thinks only he is fit to rule.

The trouble with the Saudi king is that he is alone in his train of thoughts. He thinks that he is a breed apart, a role model for others and knows what is best for every citizen. He treats the national treasury as his personal piggy bank, and assumes his princes-only majlis (democracy Saudi style) can “reach” out to people. He also believes that he is the only one who can rule the country and that Arabia belongs to him and him alone.

As a citizen of the Arabian Peninsula, I can tell the king that not one of his thoughts is rational. It is time to stop seeking fame and fortune and for him to start seeking truth and wisdom. There is a great deal for him to learn and understand about the country. People are not happy because things are not the way Allah intended them to be. So my advice to the king is: get down from your ivory tower and hear the people cry in frustration.
