More ‘moderate’ BS?

Tariq Akhtar

Following Saudi crown prince Muhammad bin Salman’s announcement that the medieval kingdom would henceforth follow “moderate” Islam, a number of other policies have come to light. The new policy of moderation will have the following features. At the time of Hanukah, a huge menorah will be installed atop the clock tower in Makkah that dwarfs the Ka‘bah. The menorah will be encased in glass to protect the candles from being blown out. That would be sacrilegious, something the “moderate” kingdom would not want.

Then leading up to Christmas, a huge cross will be mounted atop the same tower in Makkah. BS, dressed as Santa Claus (he has the girth and would not even need to put a pillow around his waist), would hand out Christmas gifts to pilgrims coming for ‘Umrah. Each pilgrim will get a deluxe edition of the King James Bible printed at the King Fahd Printing Complex in Madinah, together with a silver cross on a chain. Pilgrims will be required to wear the cross around their necks during tawaf. The chief mufti of Saudi Arabia has issued a fatwa saying this is permissible in Islam!

“These steps are aimed at cultivating friendship with our Jewish and Christian cousins,” said BS, according to a report carried by the Saudi Press Agency. Meanwhile the Kingdom will vigorously pursue the wicked Iranians, Hizbullah, and Houthis because they are all Shias!
