Heavily-armed Israeli troops escorting illegal zionist squatters stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque today (May 5) causing injury to scores of Palestinian worshippers.
The army used rubber bullets as well as smoke bombs suffocating a number of Palestinians among them elderly and children.
In a story date-lined Occupied East Jerusalem, the Qatari-owned Al Jazeera reported: “Israeli forces stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem on Thursday, injuring at least 16 Palestinians and arresting dozens.
“Injuries reported included 14 with fractures from rubber-coated bullets and tear gas suffocation, the Sama al-Quds field medical centre told Al Jazeera.”
The report went on to say that 16 Palestinians were injured and about 50 males, including the elderly and children, were arrested and escorted out of the compound from Bab al-Silsila (Chain Gate).
Reports from Al-Quds (Jerusalem) described a mob of some 600 howling illegal squatters belonging to the so-called Temple Mount group who stormed the sacred compound through the Moroccan Gate between 7am to 11am.
The mob returned between 1:30pm to 2:30pm.
The Temple Mount group’s plans include the destruction of Masjid al-Aqsa and forcibly taking over the sacred compound to build their mythical third temple over there.
The illegal occupiers have already prepared architectural plans for their so-called third temple.
The attack on Masjid Al-Aqsa coincided with what Israel refers to as “Independence Day”.
The Palestinians call it Nakba (Catastrophe) since their land was not only physically taken away from them but some 750,000 were ethnically cleansed from their homes, villages and towns.
Zionist terrorist gangs led by Menachem Begin and Yitzhak Shamir—both on Britain’s ‘Most Wanted’ list of terrorists—were responsible for pogroms and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.
Names like Deir Yassin are permanently etched in the memory of Palestinians for the massacres the Zionist perpetrated.
Not surprisingly, the Palestinians and all fair-minded people worldwide consider the Zionist state as a colonial settler entity without any legitimacy.
Zionist brazenness can be gleaned from the fact that Israeli occupation forces attacked the Qibli prayer hall in al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site for Muslims.
They fired sound grenades and rubber bullets at Palestinian worshippers.
In the snake pit of Israeli politics, right wing zionist extremists hold sway.
The illegal entity’s prime minister, Naftali Bennett is on record as say “that I have killed a lot of Arabs in my life and there is no problem with that”.
This self-confessed war criminal is welcomed in western capitals and showered with praise.
Western regimes are complicit in Israeli crimes against the Palestinians and must be held accountable.
The Islamic resistance movement Hamas has warned the zionist entity of “serious consequences” over attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Such attacks continued throughout the just-concluded month of Ramadan when larger than usual numbers of Muslims attend prayers at the Aqsa Mosque.
Hundreds of Palestinians were attacked during prayers. Many were even sprayed with sewage water to pollute their clothes and, therefore, make it impossible for them to pray.
Heavily-armed zionist occupation forces barged inside the prayer halls with their filthy boots and attacked worshippers.
The zionist regime is aware that warnings from Hamas cannot be taken lightly.
The occupation army deployed Iron Dome batteries in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv in preparation for a possible escalation in tensions.
Last year, similar attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque led to serious escalation lasting 11 days but the zionist regime dare not invade Gaza with ground forces.
Instead, it used its formidable air power and missiles to destroy apartment buildings, schools and hospitals that killed more than 280 civilians among them 66 children and 43 women.
In retaliation, Hamas was able to fire rockets into Israel reaching as far as Tel Aviv.
It caused absolute panic among the illegal squatters.
Many of them fled the country as soon as Tel Aviv airport was opened for commercial flights.
Should the current tensions escalate, there is fear of another war breaking out.
The zionist occupiers may face some unpleasant surprises.
