Barack Obama was able to ‘persuade’ the ass-like stubborn Benjamin Netanyahu to call his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and offer an ‘apology’ for the killing of nine Turkish peace activists. The move exposed Erdogan as much as it did Netanyahu.
Most informed observers were skeptical of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s anti-Israeli rhetoric, notwithstanding his public theatrics. This made for good politics among Muslims who consider the Zionist regime in Occupied Palestine illegitimate and unlawful.
Israel’s May 31, 2010 attack on the Mavi Marmara in which nine Turkish peace activists were murdered in international waters enraged Muslims worldwide. The Mavi Marmara — lead ship in an aid flotilla — was merely trying to deliver much-needed food and baby formula to the besieged Gaza Strip. Even this was unacceptable to the arrogant Zionists who attacked and killed unarmed aid workers.
Erdogan could only ignore the anger of the proud Turkish people at great political cost. So he decided to milk the episode for maximum benefit. Diplomatic relations were suspended and Erdogan demanded an apology as well as compensation for the victims’ families. Given Benjamin Netanyahu’s ass-like stubbornness, it was not forthcoming. Enter Barack Obama who saw the breach between two US allies as damaging to US interests in the region. On his recent visit to Israel, Obama persuaded Netanyahu to apologise to Turkey to enable the restoration of full diplomatic ties.
Netanyahu’s office said he “apologised to the Turkish people for any errors that could have led to the loss of life.” Errors? The Zionists deliberately shot and killed innocent people. Erdogan promptly accepted the apology.
The late Necemettin Erbakan once told a visitor that Erdogan was very pro-Zionist. He has just proved it.
