As if the two million people of Gaza were not suffering enough, it has now been plunged into darkness, thanks to the Zionists’ indescribable cruelty and barbarism. All Gazans including the elderly and the sick are forced to survive on barely four hours of electricity a day as a result of Israel’s policy.
The Zionist regime of course hides behind the excuse that the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, are quarreling with each other; it has nothing to do with Tel Aviv. This may be technically true but the reality is, it is the Zionist regime that has shut off electricity to the Gaza Strip. When it suits them, the Zionists dismiss appeals from the PA, the US-Zionist installed puppets that do the imperialists’ bidding.
Gaza has been under siege for nearly 10 years. Little gets into the tiny enclave without Israeli permission. The Rafah border with Egypt has also been shut down, thanks to the brutal policy of the Egyptian Pharaoh, General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Unfortunately gangsters and mass murderers control the Arab World. They are eager to kill their own people or fellow Muslims but prostrate before the Zionists and imperial Americans.
The UN estimates that 80% of Gaza’s population is food deficient. There is also desperate shortage of medicines. Gazans are unable to leave even for medical treatment because Egypt would not allow them to exit through the only land border at Rafah.
The director at the Rantisi Children’s Hospital, Dr. Mohammed Abu-Salmia calls the situation “catastrophic,” with only four hours of electricity service a day. In the hospital’s intensive care unit, a generator provides electricity. Children on respirators survive only because the generator powers these respirators. Should the generator break down, it will lead to a catastrophe. All the children will suffocate to death. Not that Israel cares much. For the Zionists, every Palestinian child is a potential terrorist; after all, aren’t Palestinian children always throwing rocks at Israeli armored personnel carriers? They could damage these monstrous vehicles or injure the brutes inside.
If Gaza is a vast open-air prison, there are thousands of Palestinians languishing in Israeli dungeons without charge, much less trial even in an Israeli kangaroo court.
Currently, there are more than 6,000 Palestinians in Israeli prisons. Most are held under what is referred to as administrative detention. This is a euphemism for indefinite imprisonment. A Palestinian held under this draconian measure can be held without charge or trial for six months. At the end of this period, his/her detention is extended for another six months. There are Palestinians that have languished in Israeli prisons for 10 to 12 years.
Among the prisoners are also women and children. The sadistic Zionists threaten them with sexual abuse. Many of them have been denied family visits for years.
Since Israel colonized the West Bank and Gaza in June 1967, an estimated 800,000 Palestinians have suffered imprisonment at the hands of the Zionists. At the end of May, some 1,600 Palestinians prisoners ended their 40-day hunger strike after they forced the colonizing authorities to grant them family visits and end their detention in isolation.
There is no limit to Zionist barbarism yet they perpetually whine about being victimized. They are the biggest victimizers of the Palestinian people whose land they have stolen since 1948.
