On July 19, the Saudis announced that 500 US troops plus a lot of military hardware would be deployed at Prince Sultan military base just south of Riyadh. This will ostensibly “boost regional security and stability.” How a mere 500 troops will boost regional security and stability was not explained. Wherever US troops have gone, they have caused more instability and chaos. We need hardly look beyond Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Yemen and now the Gulf. This, however, is one part of the problem.
The more serious question is: why is Saudi Arabia buying hundreds of billions of dollars worth of weapons from the US, Britain, France, Germany, and Canada among others when it cannot defend itself? Saudi Arabia has become the biggest weapons importer in the world. These weapons are used against fellow Muslims such as in Yemen where the Saudis have been waging a genocidal war, murdering more than 60,000 Yemeni civilians. The Saudis do not need protection; they need to be overthrown because they are the enemies of Allah (swt) and His Prophet (pbuh).
