Turkey is one of the most important countries in the region. It must play its rightful place in the Ummah rather than as instrument of Western powers.
Turkey is a very important country in the Muslim world. If it gets the right kind of leaders, it can play a vital role in the revival of the Ummah. Muslims had reposed great hopes in Prime Minister Recep Tayip Erdogan when he first came to power. Initially, Turkish policies were good but then Erdogan seemed to lose his way, or perhaps he became intoxicated by power. If recent changes in Turkish policy are genuine, they must be welcomed. Muslims everywhere must encourage the Turkish brothers to work as part of the Ummah, rather than their trying to revive an atavistic desire to lead it. Together we can achieve a great deal.
