Donald Trump’s threat to target all ships in international waters that call on Iranian ports has led to a dramatic increase in oil prices (see also here).
He issued the threat on his social platform, Lies Total (misleadingly called ‘Truth Social’) reflecting his frustration as a result of the military defeat the US-zionist war criminals suffered against Iran.
Iran’s military denounced the ports’ threat as “piracy” and said it would respond forcefully to any aggression.
Since the evil duo attacked Iran on February 28, Tehran has closed the Strait of Hormuz to tankers and ships from hostile countries.
This has led to higher oil prices and caused inflation.
Food prices, that were already high because of Trump’s tariffs war on the rest of the world, laso rose sharply.
The threatened blockade of Iranian ports has further escalated oil prices.
They have surged past the $100 a barrel again.
The effect is global.
The European Commissioner Ursula von der Leyen said today that the EU’s “bill for fossil fuel imports has increased by over 22 billion euros — [in] 44 days, 22 billion euros.”
Many countries have introduced rationing.
Europe’s diesel stocks will run out in 10 days.
In the US, American consumers are also feeling the strain.
Trump had promised to lower prices and said he would like to be known as a “president of peace”.
His ill-informed MAGA base swallowed this nonsense, ignoring Trump’s many serious character flaws: a compulsive liar, fraud, cheat and a sex predator.
For most people, however, issues that affect their pockets matter most.
Higher oil prices mean more expensive gas at the pump.
This in turn results in higher food prices that were already high because of Trump’s tariffs.
Angry consumers are a threat to politicians especially in a year when elections are due.
Trump’s approval ratings have nose-dived.
There are strong indications that the Republicans will lose control of both houses of Congress in November.
This will most likely lead to Trump’s impeachement.
He himslef has mention this on several occasions.
He is terrified of spending the last years of his miserable existence in a prison cell.
That is where he rightly belongs, and at the International Criminal Court for war crimes.
He was blackmailed through the Epstein files by the indicted war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu into attacking Iran.
It was supposed to be a two-three day operation but lasted 40 days.
Far from destroying the Islamic Republic despite assassinating its leader, Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei and many senior military commanders, Tehran gave a bloody nose to the US-zionist warmongers.
Iran also took control of the Strait of Hormuz, allowing tankers and ships from only non-hostile countries to pass through.
They have to pay a transit fee.
Trump was caught by the throat and had to beg for a ceasefire using the Pakistanis as a front.
Under the two-week ceasefire deal that went into effect on April 8, Iran agreed to open the Strait to international shipping provided there was a ceasefire on all fronts.
This included Lebanon as well.
The moment the ceasefire went into effect, the zionist war criminals launched a massive attack on Lebanon.
At least 2,000 people have been slaughtered and thousands of others injured so far.
The Trump regime had accepted Iran’s 10-point plan as a basis for negotiations to be held in Islamabad, Pakistan.
Iran’s plan included a permanent ceasefire, and unfreezing of all Iranian assets, illegally frozen by the US.
Removal of all sanctions, primary and secondary, as well as a new legal framework for the Strait of Hormuz also formed part of the 10-point plan.
At the Islamabad talks, far from discussing Iran’s plan, the US team led by vice president J D Vance made maximalist demands of their own.
The Iranians were in no mood to accept such nonsense.
After 21 gruelling hours of indirect talks, they collapsed.
Before leaving Islamabad in the early morning of Sunday April 12, Vance confirmed the US’s illogical position.
He said the Iranians “did not accept our terms for a deal. We made the best and final offer.”
The Americans have not disabused their minds of the notion that they are in no position to dictate to Iran.
Iran’s valiant resistance defeated the combined US-zionist onslaught, that was backed by the Arabian potentates.
This was the reason why Trump begged for a ceasefire.
Meanwhile the indicted war criminal Netanyahu knows that the moment the war stops, his trial on corruption charges will commence.
The lives of millions of people are being put at risk to try and save two war ciminals and rapists from facing justice.
