Trump dials down war rhetoric against Iran

Crescent International

After huffing and puffing like the big bad wolf for more than a week and failing to bring down Iran’s house, Donald Trump seems to be dialing down his war rhetoric.

If true, this would indicate that there are some adults in his inner circle that comprises mostly lunatics.

They must have convinced him that Iran is not Venezuela and the US could end up in a quagmire.

After threatening to hit Iran “very hard” if it did not stop “killing the protesters” and stop the “executions”, Trump said that he understands the killings in Iran have stopped.

Further, that there will be no executions in the course of the day.

Iranian officials at multiple levels—civilian and military—have warned that there will be swift and harsh retaliation if it is attacked.

While a number of countries have advised their citizens to leave Iran, Trump’s latest statement may ease these anxieties somewhat.

It would, however, be unrealistic to assume that peace is about to break out.

The zionist war criminals, Trump’s real masters, are hell-bent on attacking Iran.

They want the US to do their dirty work for them, reflecting zionist cowardice and weakness.

Fearing retaliation if the US carries out strikes against Iran, the US removed ‍some personnel ‍from Qatar’s Al Udeid air‌base.

‌The largest US military base in the region houses about 10,000 US troops.

It was hit by Iranian missiles when the US joined the zionist war criminals in attacking Iran last June.

While one hopes there is no war, given Trump’s obnoxious nature and subservience to the zionists, he may launch some strikes against Iran.

What form these might take is difficult to predict but given limited US military resources in the region, the most likely scenario would be American air strikes on some Iranian military bases.

In retaliation, Iran will hit Al Udeid air base or other US bases in the region from where an attack might be launched on its territory.

Unlike the joint Israeli-US attack last June, this time Iran is fully prepared and alert.

Tehran has also ramped up its missile stockpiles and in fact produced more advanced versions.

These can cause significant damage to US bases and personnel in the region as well as to the zionist entity.

After nine days of war last June, it was the zionist entity that begged for a ceasefire with Iran when Tel Aviv and other Israeli cities were hit.

Iran’s Defence Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh said the country is ready to defend itself “with full force and until the last drop of blood” if it comes under attack.

Other officials have been equally forthright in their response to American threats.

It is not difficult to surmise who might have communicated Trump’s message to Iran and sought an off-ramp from his souring rhetoric.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had a phone conversation with his Qatari counterpart Mohammad bin Abdurrahman bin Jassim al Thani.

The Qatari foreign minister called for “de-escalation”.

This appeared to be a message from Trump that was conveyed to Iran.

While Iran does not want war, knowing full well its destructive consequences, Trump has been made to understand by some of his inner circle that it is too risky.

Further, it would be a very long drawn-out affair whose outcome is uncertain.

There was an interesting comment by Sina Toossi, a senior non-resident fellow at the Center for International Policy, as quoted by Al Jazeera.

He said “Trump’s claim that he’s received information indicating killings in Iran had stopped appears, on the surface, to be a ‘face-saving way’ to avoid military intervention, though it does not entirely rule out such a conflict.”

“It’s hard to take what Trump says seriously, but we do know that he’s had an aversion to getting sucked into big, open-ended military conflicts, and with Iran, that risk was on the table,” Toossi said.

If some of Trump’s advisors have managed to drum into his thick skull the great danger of attacking Iran, that is a good sign.

It would indicate that there are Americans around Trump who are not beholden to the zionist war criminals.

True, the zionist cabal has a large presence around Trump but there appears to be pushback from the ‘America First’ crowd.

They resent being pushed around by ‘Israel Firsters’.

The next day or two will tell how the situation evolves.

One thing is clear.

Iran is loaded and ready and will hit back really hard if Trump is foolish enough to attack it again.

Zionist Israel will also be delivered a massive blow from which it may not recover.
