Millions of people took to the streets in Iran today (January 12) to express support for the Islamic government.
They also condemned the foreign-backed terrorists that have not only indulged in arson attacks but also killed innocent people in addition to killing security personnel.
Rallies were scheduled for 2 pm local time but across cities, people poured out into the streets as early as 11 am.
In some cities, the rallies began at 9 am.
The biggest rallies were held in Tehran and Yazd where an estimated one million people participated in each rally.
Urmia in Azerbaijan province also witnessed a massive rally with people chanting: “Azerbaijan is valiant, and shall never be parted from Khamenei.”
Participants at the rallies included people from all walks of life.
In expressing their unwavering support for the Islamic Republic, the Iranian people delivered a massive slap on the face of the US and zionist war criminals.
The terrorists indulging in arson attacks and killings are backed by the American CIA and Israeli Mossad.
American and Israeli officials have openly admitted supporting the terrorists.
Their hope is to create so much chaos that the Islamic government would collapse and be replaced by some US-zionist puppet.
The people of Iran, after sacrificing millions of lives during and since the Islamic revolution in early 1979 do not wish to live under foreign-backed puppets.
Officials in Iran described the countrywide demonstrations as irrefutable evidence of unity and solidarity in the face of enemy plots to sow chaos and division through mercenaries and terrorists.
Protests had started on December 28 amid rising prices and depreciation in the value of the local currency.
The government of the Islamic Republic, aware of people’s difficulties, moved quickly to address their legitimate concerns.
President Masoud Pezeshkian and other officials have repeatedly stressed that people have a right to peaceful protests but they must not let rioters and terrorists create discord.
He also said it is the government’s responsibility to listen to people’s genuine grievances.
Steps have been taken to address these issues that are caused by the US imposing illegal sanctions on the Islamic Republic and freezing its oil and other export earnings.
Agents provocateurs, backed by the CIA and Mossad, tried to exploit people’s genuine grievances toward violence.
This is their standard operating procedure.
These people indulge in extreme violence and set buildings and vehicles on fire as well as kill innocent people.
American and zionist regimes’ Persian-language outlets have actively encouraged such vandalism and terrorism.
Within a day of the protests starting, the Persian-language X account of the US State Department noted the ‘spread’ of the protests.
On December 30, it hailed the “remarkable courage of Iranians” and declared that it “stands” with protesters.
As if on cue, the Persian-language account of the Israeli foreign ministry also backed the protests, urging demonstrators to “make Iran great again” and praising the “continued bravery” of Iranians.
The Israeli terrorist outfit, Mossad, was not far behind.
Its Persian X account urged Iranians to “take to the streets.”
Mossad pledged practical support, adding, “We are with you on the ground.”
These have been followed by direct threats from American and Israeli officials.
Donald Trump has on several occasions threatened military action against Iran if its forces shoot protesters.
Iran has vowed to fight back.
In fact, the Secretariat of the Defence Council of the Islamic Republic issued a strongly-worded statement against such threatening rhetoric.
It said: “Within the framework of legitimate self-defense, the Islamic Republic of Iran does not limit itself to responding after an action has occurred (our emphasis) and considers objective indications of threat as part of the security equation.
“The intensification of threatening and interventionist rhetoric—going beyond mere verbal posturing—can be interpreted as hostile conduct. Continuation of this path will entail a proportionate, firm, and decisive response, with full responsibility for the consequences resting upon those who devise this course.”
There has been a virtual blackout of pro-government rallies in Iran.
The Qatari-regime owned and financed outlet Al-Jazeera did not report directly on the rallies in Iran.
Instead, its report said “Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency published footage from one such rally in the capital Tehran.”
The British propaganda mouthpiece, the BBC, tucked the story of pro-government rallies way down the list but quickly deleted it a couple of hours later.
A search of the BBC website did not find even its distorted reporting about the pro-government rallies two hours later.
Its distorted report had said: “Iranian state TV claims counter-protesters condemn ‘terrorist’ actions.”
Instead, the BBC resumed its anti-Iran propaganda.
After all, reporting on pro-government rallies does not fit the anti-Iran narrative and the supposed collapse of the Islamic Republic.
