Described as the most successful World Cup ever, Africa and South Africa in particular, are glowing with pride and patting each other on the back as accolades pour in because of the tremendous success of the “greatest show on Earth”.
All the sceptics and purveyors of doom and gloom have received a red card and a well-deserved “free kick” up their backsides. Dire warnings of impending car-bombings and al-Qaeda types running around with suicide vests causing destruction and mayhem have proved to be nothing but the figments of imagination run wild and an attempt to discredit and insult Muslims. These attempts to tarnish and question the reputation of patriotic Muslims have to be condemned.
So-called analysts and authorities on terrorism must be wallowing in disappointment as their “expert” analysis and predictions proved to be completely off the mark. They have been exposed as nothing but mischief-makers and have to be taken to task by the relevant authorities and must reveal their source of misinformation. One rather notorious character masquerading as an academic and a Muslim because he has a Muslim name, one Hussein Solomon, who is a known friend of the illegitimate State of Israel (having presented papers at a number of conferences outlining the threat of so-called Muslim terrorists), must be suffering from post-World Cup depression. Criminal organisations such as Mossad and the CIA must be in mourning because South Africa managed to host a relatively incident-free and successful World Cup. The only fireworks, to my mind, were reserved for the closing ceremony and after the Spanish had defeated the Dutch.
Barring a few hiccups, every facet linked to the World Cup worked like clockwork. Security, transport — in and around the match venues — and all other related issues were top notch. The hospitality of the host country, the sportsmanship and camaraderie were exceptional.
Where to from here for South Africa? We have proved to the world that a nation can rally under one flag and make things work. Many challenges lie ahead, but with divine help and the will and commitment of all people irrespective of race or creed, South Africans can face any challenge in the future, insha’Allah.
