Holding huge banners and the country’s flag as well as placards denouncing the US, Zionist Israel and Britain, millions of Iranians poured into the streets today in support of the Islamic government and system.
Chanting slogans in support of the Islamic Republic and the Rahbar, Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei, rallies were held in different towns and cities, including Ahvaz, Kermanshah, Bushehr, Abadan, Gorgan and Qum.
In Qum, the centre of religious learning, demonstrators held banners proclaiming, “The blood in our veins is a gift to the Rahbar.”
The demonstrators also condemned the recent wave of deadly violence that clearly had all the hallmarks of foreign instigation. Government supporters put their finger on the reality by denouncing those indulging in violence as seditionists.
Similar rallies are planned for other cities on Thursday that will culminate in the biggest of all rallies in the country in Tehran on Friday January 5 following Friday prayers.
Sharmine Narwani, one of the best-informed analysts on the Middle East analyzed tweets that urged Iranians to join the protests. Taking a snapshot for one day (January 2), she provided the following interesting information.
“There were 72,200 tweets with the hashtag “#tazirat_sirasiry”. Of these, 74% of them were out of #Iran; and 35% were in Arabic language.”
The most interesting point raised by Sharmine Narwani was that Saudi tweets were more than those of Iranians!
The ever-troublesome Brits came in third place.
Commenting on these figures, Sharmine Narwani wrote: “Interesting demographics of those tweeting about Iran protests and shaping global perception. Twitter...which has only 1% of the Iranian social media marketplace.”
The incompetent Saudis that do not even know how to boil an egg, were able to send more tweets than the Iranians themselves? Clearly, their Zionist and American masters were helping them with this disruptive plot but it has been roundly defeated, thanks to the vigilance of the Iranian people and the Islamic establishment.
Speaking to families of the martyrs on January 2, the Rahbar, Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei said that the enemies have been using various tools to deal blows to the Iranian State and the Islamic establishment during the latest developments. He urged the people and officials to remain vigilant in the face of such plots.
Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry said on Tuesday (Jan 2) that the situation in most of the country had now returned to normal, and that the unrest would soon come to an end.
The Intelligence Ministry also said it has identified and arrested a number of the agents behind the violence.
