The zionist occupiers of Palestine may have killed or wounded hundreds of Palestinians and smashed their homes, but the residents of Jenin remain defiant.
After bombing Jenin residents for 48 hours with drones, helicopter gunships and missiles and attacking them with armoured-personnel carriers and bulldozers, the zionists announced they were withdrawing their heavily-armed troops.
More than 1,000 Israeli troops were involved in the attack launched on July 3.
When the assault ended 48 hours later, it had left death and destruction in its wake.
At least 12 Palestinians were killed and more than 143 injured.
True to their customary nature, the zionists lied that they were after “militants”.
Many of the dead were 16 or 17 years of age; that is, they were children.
Residents of the camp said it was civilians, not armed fighters, who bore the brunt of the Israeli assault.
Why do the zionists even bother to tell lies?
Their supporters, financiers and backers in the US, Britain and elsewhere in Europe always back them regardless of the crimes they commit.
After all, the US and British regimes were unequivocal in support of zionist war crimes.
Ned Price, the US State Department spokesman, said: “Israel has the legitimate right to defend its people and its territory against all forms of aggression, including those from terrorist groups.”
British prime minister Rishi Sunak was equally deferential about Israel’s murderous assault on the Palestinians.
He urged the zionist entity to "show restraint” even as Israeli bulldozers were smashing their way through the narrow alleyways of the over-crowded Jenin refugee camp.
The Deputy Governor of Jenin, Kamal Abu al-Rub told Anadolu news agency, “Houses and infrastructure suffered heavy damage in the offensive.”
The Qatari-based news outlet Al-Jazeera quoting the Turkish news agency Anadolu, reported: “Almost 80 percent of houses in the Jenin refugee camp were either destroyed, damaged or burned.”
The UK-based Middle East Monitor also reported the figure of 80% homes being damaged.
Abu al-Rub further reported that dozens of vehicles and utility lines were damaged in the raid, including sewage pipes.
The fact that Israel had brought bulldozers into the narrow alleys of the camp was meant to destroy as many homes as possible.
This is collective punishment and while illegal under international law, the zionist war criminals do not care for any law.
It is their age-old policy to inflict collective punishment on the Palestinians with the aim of driving them out of their land.
The zionists have made no secret of their policy of ethnic cleansing.
Israel’s first prime minister, David Ben Gurion candidly admitted that the Palestinians will have to be driven out of their land to make room for Jews.
Golda Meir, another Israeli prime minister, went so far as to claim that there were no such people as the Palestinians.
“It was not as if there was a Palestinian people in Palestine and we came and threw them out and took their country way from them. They did not exist.”
Meir’s successors are to be found in Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel’s minister for national security and the settlers, and Bezalel Smotrich, leader of the Religious Zionist Party.
In his “Decision Plan” that he wrote in 2017, Somtrich was as unequivocal as Meir that the Palestinians do not exist as a people.
When there is complete denial of the Palestinians’ existence as a people, it makes it easier to exterminate them.
This is what the zionist occupiers of Palestine have been doing since they launched their terror campaign at the end of 1947.
The latest assault on Jenin is part of this long-running campaign of extermination and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians.
Israeli snipers had barged into people’s homes and took up positions to shoot Palestinians in the streets in Jenin.
Paramedics as well as ambulances that were prevented from treating the wounded, reported that they treated people of all age groups including the elderly.
Some of the wounded are reported to be in critical condition and may die because of lack of timely medical help.
This too is part of a deliberate policy.
The zionists want to kill as many Palestinians as possible.
They also used attack dogs against Palestinians.
Several people were mauled by Israeli dogs and left deeply traumatized.
The zionists’ criminal conduct and the Palestinians’ refusal to surrender to such barbarism is a test of wills.
So far, the Palestinians have shown through determination and grit that they are not prepared to surrender to such barbarism regardless of the kinds of weapons the zionists use against them.
This is a victory for the Palestinians and a clear defeat of zionist racism.
Their extreme brutality is proof that they are getting desperate.
