Two more senior officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran were martyred in zionist Israel’s missile strikes on Tehran.
The March 17 criminal attacks martyred the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Dr Ali Larijani, and Commander of Basij Forces, General Ghulamreza Solaimani.
While the zionists and American warmongers may be gloating over the killings, they should know that such criminal acts cannot destabilize the Islamic Republic.
Dr. Larijani was martyred alongside his son, Mortaza Larijani; the SNSC deputy for security, Alireza Bayat; and a number of their bodyguards.
In a statement the SNSC secretariate said that his martyrdom would further steel the resolve of the people and its officials to persist in elevating the Islamic Republic’s noble objectives.
There is little doubt that Dr. Larijani was an important figure of the Islamic Republic.
He served as a member of Iran’s Expediency Council and a senior advisor to the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
He had also served as Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Majlis) for 12 years.
A veteran of the Iraqi-imposed war, he rose to the rank of Brigadier in the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.
The funerals for Dr Larijani and General Solaimani and the IRIS Dena sailors were held today (March 18) in Tehran.
IRIS Dena was destroyed by an American torpedo off the coast of Sri Lanka as the unarmed frigate was returning from participating in multi-country exercises at the invitation of India.
The Modi regime betrayed the Iranian sailors by providing information to the Americans.
Sri Lanka also played a dirty role by refusing to respond to the frigate’s distress call.
It was stationery for 11 hours during which time, an American submarine reached the area and blew up the frigate.
Martyrdom was Dr. Larijani’s “long-held dream”.
Only a few days earlier, he had appeared in a public rally to observe the Quds Day.
He walked among millions of Iranians on Friday March 13 in Tehran.
Millions of other cities across the Islamic Republic also marked Quds Day.
The struggle against the illegal US-zionist aggression will continue.
