India’s Nazi on the way to power

Editor

Contrary to popularly peddled myths, India’s Hindu ideology is very close to Nazism. In fact, the Hindu and Nazi symbols are identical yet observers in the Indian-dotting West have deliberately obfuscated this fact.

The selection of Narendra Modi as candidate for the fascist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to the prime ministerial post has forced the ruling Congress Party to take off its gloves. For Congress, it is mere politics. It is not above Nazi-style tactics itself but for minorities in India — primarily Muslims, Christians, Sikhs and even Dalits — the possibility of Modi occupying the prime minister’s post is a frightening thought.

Modi was responsible for the 2002 anti-Muslim pogroms in Gujarat, where he is currently the chief minister, that led to the slaughter of more than 2,000 Muslims. On orders from Modi, the police took no action to protect the Muslims. Many were burnt alive.

His rallies across the country have attracted huge crowds. Modi promises jobs, and pride in Hinduism. His close ties to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a Hindu fascist outfit that sees India as primarily a Hindu country, bodes ill for the 200 million Muslims and other minorities.

Interestingly a number of Bollywood stars have also jumped on the Modi bandwagon including Amitabh Bachchan, an extremely prejudiced Hindu. Should Modi win the April election, there will be little room left for Muslims in the world’s self-styled largest democracy.
