Backed by the heavily-armed Israeli police and occupation army, Zionist squatters (aka settlers) have been rampaging through the streets of Al-Quds/Jerusalem attacking Palestinians since the beginning of the month of Ramadan.
Shouting “death to Arabs”, these racist thugs have escalated terrorist attacks against Palestinians especially around the Masjid al Aqsa compound.
The focal point of the attacks is the Damascus Gate, one of the gates that leads to the Aqsa Compound.
Since Ramadan is a very important month for Muslims, large number of Palestinians attend prayers at Al Aqsa Mosque.
The entire compound that contains, in addition to Al Aqsa Mosque, the Dome of the Rock and numerous madrassas, is sacred for Muslims.
The Zionists have been deliberately barging onto the compound to provoke clashes with Palestinian Muslims.
When Palestinians defend themselves, the squatters as well as the police and army attack them.
According to the well informed Al Quds al-Arabi newspaper, at least 105 Palestinians have been injured in squatter and police attacks so far.
Damascus Gate and the adjoining square are popular places for Palestinian youth and others to gather after iftar (breaking of fast).
The Zionist squatters deliberately targeted them in this area.
When Palestinian youth try to defend themselves, the Zionist police arrest them, not the invading squatters.
Some 53 Palestinian youth have been arrested and roughed-up.
The terrorist campaign against Palestinians is led by the Kahanist right-wing Lehava that won some seats in the Israeli Knesset (parliament) and is now in negotiations with Benjamin Netanyahu to form the next government.
Netanyahu is facing criminal charges and his only way to escape jail is to cling to power.
Al-Quds Al-Arabi has obtained videos the group posted on social media.
It showed Zionist terrorists of the Kahanist cult opening fire at Palestinians in Al Quds/Jerusalem, wounding scores of them.
One of the most dangerous inciters, Al-Quds Al-Arabi reported, is Head of the Religious Zionist Party Bezalel Smotrich, who renewed his incitement in a tweet: “What the Arab enemy is doing recalls the disobedience of 1936, and this is a result of the weak government, disabled police and corruption of the judicial system.”
When Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip held rallies in support of their brethren in Al Quds/Jerusalem, the Zionist occupiers launched air strikes against them.
The most recent strikes were on the night of April 24.
The Islamic resistance movement, Hamas, that runs the government in Gaza, called upon all Palestinians to go to Al Quds.
Protests have also spread to the occupied West Bank.
It also called for unity among all Palestinian factions in the face of the latest wave of Zionist terrorism.
Zionist squatters are also leading a campaign to evict Palestinians from their homes in East Jerusalem.
Sheikh Jarrah, Salwan and other neighborhoods in East Jerusalem have been targeted in a vicious campaign of attacks and intimidation.
The settler-colonial entity’s courts also back the squatters in the theft of land in violation of international law.
It is important for Muslims and other fair-minded people worldwide to condemn Zionist terrorism.
Palestinians should not be abandoned to the non-existent mercies of the Zionist thugs.
