There were no Eid celebrations in Baghdad as people mourned the death of more than 250 people in the deadliest terrorist attack since the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003. While the takfiri terrorists claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing, the real perpetrators are the Saudi, Qatari, Turkish regimes that provide support to terrorists. Beyond that, US rulers--Bush, Cheney et al--must be held directly responsible for such crimes.

The US made great play of jubilation in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, on April 9, when the US invasion seemed to have forced the collapse of the Iraqi regime.
The UN and Iraq look set for yet another confrontation: there is mounting concern in Washington about the growing perils facing American pilots flying over Iraq as Baghdad continues to improve its air defences. Baghdad has expelled eight UN staffers in recent weeks, accusing them of “violating their standard operating procedures” and passing security-related information to “enemy states.”
From Kosova to Kashmir, and many other places yet further afield, Muslims are being deprived of their lands and lives. In some cases, the ‘international community’ expresses concern and intervenes; in others, it is apparently oblivious.
The streets of Baghdad are filled with vendors, taxicabs and a tenacious spirit. As a result of stagnant salaries and enormous inflation, most of Iraq’s work force has taken to the streets to find other ways of earning a living.
From a distance, you wouldn’t think that this is a city under siege. And why should you? Its giant bridges, ancient ruins and ever-flowing rivers are a sign of a well-nurtured civilization. Once you get close to its alleyways, streets and hospitals however, you will be shocked to see a very different reality.
Like father like son, they say? Well, more like two sons. Saddam Husain’s sons are not the most polite creatures in the world as anyone even remotely familiar with that unfortunate land will testify. Life becomes even more intolerable if the two get into a fight.
