West’s Vulture in Libya

Badr Abul Kheir

Libya’s plight accurately captures the West’s way of dealing with Third-World countries. First, destroy a country, and then come with promises of “help.” It was announced on July 17, amid much fanfare, that Western investors, The Guidry Group, are launching a billion-dollar infrastructure project to change the face of the war-torn country. The announcement also claimed “the main objective of the project is to improve the lives of the Libyan people, breathe critical economic life into the region, and tremendously benefit the citizens…” In reality, the main objective is to embroil the country in debt so that the people have to trade precious resources for financial solvency.

Libya was doing very well until NATO vultures feasted upon it in 2011. Libya was looking after its people and also helping countries in Africa free themselves from neocolonial exploitation. The West destroyed it creating havoc and unleashing terrorists. Now it wants to “help” the Libyan people. Some help. The fact is the West wants to steal Libya’s resources and suck its blood dry.
