Unless Muslims take control of their own destiny, they will be unable to make much progress says letter writer Abdul Rahman Razzak.
No people have ever made progress unless they take control of their own destiny and are prepared to make the requisite sacrifices for its realization. Despite great talent and vast amounts of crucial resources, the Muslim world is in turmoil because its policies are formulated by others, mainly anti-Islamic forces, who are setting their policy agenda. The sad state of the Muslim world is a natural consequence.
No people have ever made progress unless they take control of their own destiny and are prepared to make the requisite sacrifices for its realization.
This is further complicated by the fact that many regimes in the Muslim world have aligned themselves with the imperialists and Zionists against other Muslims. The net result is that far from Muslim resources being used for the benefit of Muslims, they are being used to destroy them. This follows from the fact that most of these regimes are illegitimate. In fact they were created by the colonialist powers to serve their own agendas. Measured against any indicator, with few notable exceptions, all Muslim countries present a dismal state of affairs. Education standards are low, healthcare is virtually non-existent and there are extreme disparities in income because of massive corruption.
The question that every concerned Muslim must ask is: what is the way out of this mess.
The question that every concerned Muslim must ask is: what is the way out of this mess. Applying the old formula of changing faces at the top will not solve any of these problems. What is needed is a change of system. This will require sacrifices but first it requires a clear understanding that the existing systems in Muslim societies are illegitimate and therefore, unresponsive to the needs of the people. This mental clarity is absolutely essential before any positive change can occur.
