The victory of the resistance front against the forces of tyranny and oppression in Syria has enormous implications not only for that country but also the entire region. While the US-Zionist-Saudi-backed takfiri terrorists have not been completely eliminated, their defeat in Aleppo is the first step along the road to their total rout. Whereas victory has served as a great morale booster for the thinly-spread Syrian army, it has also demoralized the takfiris. This explains some rebel groups’ disassociation from the takfiris and their entering into talks with the Syrian government. Aleppo has also chastened Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan who has been forced to change his tune, even if not his policy.
It is, however, the broader implications of the defeat of the imperialist-Zionist-Wahhabi-supported project that are important. Until Aleppo, the imperialists and Zionists had succeeded in their designs in places like Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya. The latter country has been smashed virtually beyond repair, home now to a large number of terrorists who are rampaging throughout the region. While causing death and destruction, the imperialist-Zionist project has been stopped in its tracks in Syria.
What is the secret of Syria’s success? Two factors: firstly, the Syrian army and establishment did not disintegrate, as in Libya; secondly and more importantly, Syria’s allies, Russia, Iran, and Hizbullah, prevented its collapse. This is a very significant development.
