International institutions: instruments of the West

There are numerous international institutions with high-sounding names and even higher sounding principles. Led by the United Nations, others include the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), etc. These bodies are supposed to make the world a safer place for all to live in.

Closer examination of their mode of operations will immediately show that they were not created to make the world a safer place but to act as “soft” extensions of the West’s military instruments of coercion to continue to dominate and exploit the world. The UN, for instance, has not prevented a single war in its entire 64-year history; the IAEA has not stopped the spread of nuclear weapons much less forced the nuclear bullies — the US, Britain, France, Russia, China and Israel — to abandon their nuclear stockpiles. This body is used to bully those who refuse to submit to US demands.

We take a closer look at some of these institutions and reveal how they operate, whose purpose they serve and why they do not do what they are supposed to do. Instead, it is important to expose their ugly agendas that are meant to advance the West’s exploitative policies against primarily Third World countries.

Understanding the nature of the present world order is essential to confronting and neutralizing its destructive impact on other peoples’ lives whether in Asia, Africa or Latin America. The world’s resources were not created to satiate the rapacious appetite of those living in the west.
