I wish to thank Dr. John Andrew Morrow and Crescent International for highlighting the Saudis’ desecration and destruction of sacred sites in Makkah and Madinah (“The duty of protecting sacred sites,” CI, January 2019). As Dr. Morrow points out, historical sites have been preserved since antiquity even if not well maintained at times. Muslims as well as non-Muslims have preserved such sites. The Wahhabi vandals have taken license — and regrettably Muslims have remained largely silent — to embark on the wholesale destruction of these sites. Muslims must take urgent steps to get rid of these barbarians from Najd before they wipe out all traces of Islamic heritage. They do not own “Saudi” Arabia even if they have named it after their family in complete violation of all Islamic principles.
