The US has become a vast surveillance state; everyone is being spied upon. No one is trusted except the inner core of operatives that carry out such activities for the benefit of the few at the top. It has been described as Oligarchy but in reality, it is a worse than a police state. Journalist Tom Englehardt describes it as “Shadow Government”.
American Muslim ‘leaders’ are just waking up to the horrific consequences of a surveillance police state even as they try to curry favor with the oppressive system.
The CIA has always been a rogue outfit. It has now emerged that it has even been spying on the US Senate Intelligence Committee, the body that overseas CIA's work. Nobody is safe from its tentacles. Perhaps, Obama should check how many bugs does the CIA have in his bedroom.
The US regime has turned into a monster. Its surveillance programs are so intrusive that they spare no one, even close allies. German Chancellor Angela Merkel has found this out as have the Spaniards. They are not amused but the issue has gone beyond amusement. They are furious at such betrayal. There will be consequences. The whistleblower, Edward Snowden, has meanwhile warned of the dangers in such a policy.
Julian Assange of WikiLeaks fame is being targeted not because he is guilty of the rape allegation. His real ‘crime’ is that he exposed America’s dirty tricks.
