Since Narendra Modi's unilateral action to abrogate the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, there have been rallies worldwide to condemn this illegal act. One of the largest rallies in North America took place in Toronto on Sunday August 18 morning. Thousands of people attended. In Kashmir itself, there has been 24/7 curfew to clamp down on people creating great hardships for the 12 million Kashmiris.
On July 7 and Sunday July 8, 2018, Friends of Kashmir Committee Canada (FKCC), and the Canadian Council for Justice and Peace in collaboration with a number of other organizations held two successful conferences on Kashmir in Toronto and Hamilton. President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Masood Khan was the chief guest.
