It is truly shocking how women are mistreated all over the world. This is especially true in the west where under the guise of freedom, women are grossly exploited.
I want to thank Sr. Khadijah Ali for a very informative, albeit depressing, article about the plight of women (CI, July 2013). At the root of the problem lies the notion that the powerful have a right to do what they like. Only Islam, as Sr. Khadijah rightly points out, regulates the use of power. This awareness will become the norm only if people realize that there is a Day of Judgment. Until then, people of conscience must stand against oppression and tyranny.
