UK chooses to remain Washington’s puppet

Having left the EU just when the global economy came to a halt due to the coronavirus, Britain had no choice but to become even more of Washington’s puppet.

The Diplomat reported last week that the British government “backtracked on plans to give Chinese telecommunications company Huawei a limited role in the U.K.’s new high-speed mobile phone network in a decision with broad implications for relations between London and Beijing. Britain said it imposed the ban after U.S. sanctions made it impossible to ensure the security of Huawei equipment, forcing it to start turning to other suppliers for components.”

Britain’s decision to ditch China when Washington is suffering economic and political decline seems shortsighted and will certainly create obstacles for British businesses doing work with China. Beijing is unlikely to forget how London chose to put Washington’s imperial agenda ahead of China’s and Britain’s commercial benefits which would have benefitted both societies.
