Donald Trump is a certified crook. He was convicted by a jury in a New York District court on 34 felony charges in January 2025. Instead of sentencing him to prison, as would befit the crime, the presiding judge, Juan Merchan let him go free.
The judge said that as a former president and as the next president, he could not be sent to jail. Why not? Trump wasn’t even fined. So much for American justice.
Trump is a compulsive liar, a crook, rapist of underage girls and an absolute bully. All these make a pretty long and damnable list of negative personality traits. Should such a person be sitting in the White House with his grubby finger close to the nuclear button?
Most normal people would recoil in horror at the deep personality flaws in Trump’s character. Not so Americans, as is evident from their behaviour. His support base of MAGA morons doesn’t find anything wrong with him.
The vast majority almost worship him and insist that God put him in the White House to “fix” America’s problems that the Democrats had created.
We need to consider some specific examples about the MAGA crowd responses to questions about what Trump claims to have “achieved”. Wearing red shirts and red hats (Republican Party colour), the obese MAGA crowd insists that Trump ended wars in eight countries in his first year in office.
When asked to name two countries where this happened, they were clueless. They couldn’t name even one country. One person turned to his wife for help. She said Trump ended the wars in “foreign countries”! Brilliant.
In another video clip, a MAGA moron agreed that the “Muslim Torah” should be banned in the US. When asked if the “Jewish Qur’an” should also be banned, he said, “No”, because Israel is an ally of the US.
The MAGA mega morons also insist that I-ran cannot have a nuclear bomb. This is an allegation that Trump, US War Secretary Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have repeated endlessly. Iran is not making a bomb.
As recently as last year, the US intelligence assessment found no evidence that Iran was making a bomb. And true to form, the MAGA crowd cannot locate Iran on a map without the countries’ names on it.
One meme on the internet was quite hilarious. It showed an obese MAGA supporter insisting what a genuis Trump was. He said before Trump became president, he could only put $50 worth of gas in the tank of his truck. Thanks to Trump, his gas tank can now take $200 worth of gas!
Trump insists that he is the “most stable genius”, that he knows more about finance, business, politics and infrasructure than anybody else. And he is adamant that he has met more people than there are people in the world.
His MAGA supporters lap such nonsense and even repeat it ad nauseam. They insist that Trump won a convincing victory in the US persidential elections in November 2024. What that proves is that his supporters are just as thick as the candidate they support and ‘elected’.
Trump once boasted on television that he could shoot a person in the street in broad daylight and his supporters would still vote for him! And true to his vulgar self, he insists that rich and powerful men are entitled to grope and even sexually assault underage girls. It cannot get any worse than that.
Pity the people—if one can muster the strength to pity such people—who support him. The situation, however, is changing. Most Americans have turned against Trump. Two issues are primarily responsible for this: the cost of living and the US war on Iran.
Trump had claimed earlier this year that the war on Iran would be over in a matter of days or at most a few weeks. It has now gone on for eight months with no clear end in sight.
Trump’s approval rating has fallen to its lowest level ever. The latest Reuters-Ipsos survey put his approval rating at just 31 percent—the lowest recorded across either of his two terms.
The latest survey left CNN’s Chief Data Analyst Harry Enten stunned. Appearing on News Central with anchor John Berman, Enten said “Among independents, he’s 54 points underwater.” He added: “I mean this is down there with Jacques Cousteau and The Little Mermaid. This is how low Trump is right now.”
On the eve of the November midterm elections, Enten said: “I mean this is a five-alarm Trumpster fire, that’s what we’re talking about.”
According to a Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll published on October 19, Trump’s approval rating among US adults was at 33 percent. More alarming for Trump and the Republican Party, 66 percent disapprove of Trump’s performance as president and 52 percent disapprove strongly.
While Trump is not running for office, he exerts great influence on the Republican Party. The midterm elections are seen as a referendum on his performance as well. They will determine who controls Congress.
Republicans currently hold a narrow majority in both houses of Congress but are likely to lose it given the Democrats’ eight-point lead over Republicans among registered and likely voters.
The poll shows that US voters have “lost faith in the president,” are “deeply worried” about Trump’s decision to wage war on Iran alongside Israel, and are feeling the economic effects of the war, especially the price of gasoline, the Washington Post noted.
Overall, 72 percent say the country is heading in the wrong direction. This is up five points since April.
In his inaugural address, Trump had promised to bring down the prices of essential goods—groceries, gas etc—but with rapidly rising prices, his economic approval rating has fallen to 28 percent. Roughly 75 percent of respondents disapprove of Trump’s handling of inflation and the cost of living crisis.
Given these grim statistics, Trump is attempting to influence the outcome of elections by sending federal agents to intimidate election officials. Several intelligence and security officials have warned state personnel about such manipulation.
Who says elections are rigged only in third world countries? Trump is turning the US into a third world country, or a “sh*thole country”, to use his own expression.
