With each new post on his Truth Social (it should be called Lies Total), Donald Trump gets more hysterical.
His latest threat to wipe out “Iran’s civilization” if Tehran does not open the Strait of Hormuz and make a deal with the US, Donald Trump merely confirmed that he is a mad dog.
“A whole civilisation will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
Islamic Iran shot back by responding that “no threat can undermine” its “deeply rooted civilization.”
Iranian government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani posted on X that national security remains the government’s top priority and that all affairs are being managed carefully.
For more than two weeks, Trump has been warning that he would order the destruction of Iran’s civilian infrastructure, including bridges and power stations, if his demands are not met.
For the record, the Strait of Hormuz is open.
It is closed to ships from hostile countries such as the US, Israel and their allies in Europe.
Oil tankers and vessels from other countries are allowed to pass through by paying transit fees.
Legal experts said targeting Iran’s civilian infrastructure is a war crime.
“It’s horrific. It’s pure evil. It’s disqualifying,” Yasmine Taeb, legislative and political director for the advocacy group MPower Change Action Fund, said of Trump’s threats.
“It’s the words of a deranged, unstable madman.”
Several Democratic members of Congress have also condemned Trump’s threats and called for ending the war.
Taeb, however, wants “stronger reaction” from US lawmakers and the international community against Trump’s rhetoric and policies.
Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib said today the 25th Amendment of the constitution should be invoked to remove Trump from office because he is unfit to serve.
“After bombing a school and massacring young girls, the war criminal in the White House is threatening genocide,” Tlaib wrote in a social media post, referring to the Minab school attack in southern Iran that killed more than 170 people, the overwhelming majority being girls between the ages of 7 to 12.
Congressman Jim McGovern stressed that the US military is required to disobey “illegal orders”.
“This is evil. The President of the United States’ genocidal threat to commit war crimes is illegal under federal & international law,” McGovern said.
The conservztive commentator and former Trump supporter Tucker Carlson went further.
He directed his message to staff and troops serving in the White House and the US military.
“If you work in the White House or in the US military, now is the time to say, no, absolutely not. Say it directly to the president, no,” he said.
He specifically addressed the possibility of using weapons of mass destruction, i.e., nuclear bombs, against the Iranian population.
“Those people who are in direct contact with the president need to say, no, I’ll resign. I’ll do whatever I can do legally to stop this because this is insane.”
Carlson went further. He explicitly urged military personnel to refuse orders.
“And if given the order, I'm not carrying it out. Figure out the codes on the football yourself,” he said, referring to the nuclear launch codes carried by the president’s aide.
“Because everything hangs in the balance right now. This is not his.”
