Editor The two most violent regimes in the world—US imperialism and zionist colonialism—never tire of talking about Iran’s nuclear program. “Iran must not have a nuclear weapon,” is a common refrain heard ad nauseam.
Islamic Iran does not have or even wants to have a nuclear bomb. If it wanted, it could have acquired one decades ago.
There is a fatwa (religious ruling) against acquiring weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons. This was issued by Iran’s highest authority, the late Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei. He was martyred together with several members of his family in the criminal zionist attack on his home/office compound on February 28.
We are forced to ask: why this constant harping on preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons when it is not doing so? Both US intelligence agencies as well as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have confirmed that there is no evidence of Iran pursuing nuclear weapons.
The allegation against Iran is merely a pretext to exert pressure on Tehran to abandon its independent policy and submit to US-zionist diktats and hegemony. It has been subjected to illegal sanctions and its foreign assets amounting to hundreds of billions of dollars have been frozen causing great harm to the Iranian people.
There are nine confirmed nuclear states in the world: the US, Russia, France, Britain, China, Israel, India, Pakistan and North Korea. Apart from the zionist entity, every other state has acknowledged possessing nuclear weapons.
Why are the zionists coy about possessing nuclear weapons? Further, why they don’t open their facilities to international inspections, as Iran has done?
Calls by governments in West Asia to have a nuclear-free zone have been rebuffed by the west and Israel. If possessing nuclear weapons is bad, then it should be bad for everyone, not just the Muslims.
Before Pakistan carried out its nuclear tests on May 28, 1998, following India’s nuclear explosions two weeks earlier, there was huge propaganda in the west about the “Islamic bomb”. There has never been any mention of a Christian, Jewish or Hindu bomb, so why this obsession with a “Muslim” bomb? Since when did a bomb acquire a religion?
This vile propaganda is meant to poison people’s mind against Muslims. Millions have been slaughtered since the attacks of 911. The US, zionist Israel and the collective west have even demanded that Iran must abandon its defensive missile program.
They want Iran to have no defensive capability so that western warmongers get a free hand to attack and possibly destroy the Islamic Republic. This is what happened to Iraq in 2003 and to Libya in 2011. Both states were destroyed inflicting immense suffering on their people.
Unlike zionist Israel, Iran is a signatory to the nuclear non-proliferation treaty (NPT). It was officially opened for signatures on July 1, 1968 and came into force on March 5, 1970.
Some of the key provisions of the treaty are that nuclear states gradually dismantle their arsenals to make the world free of nuclear weapons. Another is that nuclear states must assist non-nuclear weapons states to benefit from the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
Unfortunately, the nuclear states have not abandoned their weapons. Instead, over the years, they have produced more lethal weapons.
It must also be mentioned that the US has used atomic weapons not once but twice on Japan in August 1945. It is the only country in the world to commit such a crime.
More recently (June 2025), the US and zionist Israel attacked Iran’s nuclear facilities. These clearly constitute war crimes but the IAEA refused to condemn them. This is rank hypocrisy and exposes the despicable conduct of western regimes and the institutions they control.
The world would be a far safer place if no country had nuclear weapons. Would the nuclear states, especially the US, Britain, France, zionist Israel or Hindu India, agree to this?
Donald Trump has even abrogated a number of arms limitation treaties with Russia including the Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty. Further, he has allocated $1 trillion to upgrade America’s nuclear arsenal.
There are people who make the argument that if the nuclear states refuse to give up their weapons, then all countries should have nuclear weapons to create a level playing field. This will prevent the blackmail of non-nuclear states.
This argument finds strong support in how North Korea is treated today. Before acquiring nuclear weapons, the US was constantly threatening it with annihilation. Since going nuclear, North Korea has not faced any such threats.
The conclusion is inescapable. Weakness invites trouble and gives the warmongers the opportunity to inflict massive suffering on countless innocent civilians worldwide.
The NPT is reviewed every few years at the UN. If non-nuclear states call for the nuclear lepers to reduce their stockpiles, this is considered unrealistic. Calls to make West Asia a nuclear-free zone or force zionist Israel to open its nuclear facilities for international inspection are even more vigorously opposed.
The world unfortunately is not governed by the rule of law. ‘Might is right’ decides who survives and who dies. While not possessing nuclear weapons, Islamic Iran has developed its defensive capabilities to face the aggressors effectively.
In the war launched against it by the evil duo—the US and Israel—Iran inflicted massive damage on both. If the US is begging for peace, it is not because the Americans have turned peaceniks. Iran has given the US and zionist Israel bloody noses. That is the only language they understand.
Many people also insist that Iran should go nuclear. The NPT is irrelevant and its hypocrisy self-evident. That, however, is a decision the leadership in Iran will have to make, based on their calculations.
