The weaponization of language

Given the multiple wars launched by the US and its criminal allies zionist Israel, Europe and the Arabian puppets, against innocent Muslims, language is also pressed into service. There is a common aphorism that truth is the first casualty of war.

It is, however, the weaponization of language that is most disturbing. It is so relentless that even some well-meaning Muslims are taken in by it. A few examples will help clarify the point.

In every war, each side tries to delegitimize the other. Let us consider two current examples: the US-zionist war on Iran and the Saudi-led war on Yemen. In the first, it is commonly referred to as the “Iran War”, as if the Iranians are fighting among themselves. There is seldom any mention of the fact that the US and zionist Israel illegally attacked Iran. It constitutes a war crime.

Perish the thought if one sees or hears this expression used in western media outlets for US-zionist criminal conduct. Similarly, Islamic Iran is referred to as the “Iranian regime”. It is a deliberate attempt to delegitimize its system and government despite the fact that elections are regularly held and there is spirited debate in Iran’s parliament on all issues.

Regarding the Saudi-led war on the Ansar-Allah in Yemen, it is framed as the “Internationally Recognized Government” (IRG) fighting against “Iran-backed Houthis”. International recognition is meaningless. After all, for 20 years during the US occupation of Afghanistan, the regime installed in Kabul by the US was “internationally recognized”.

Its writ, however, did not extend beyond Kabul. American-installed puppets fled the country before US forces slunked out of Kabul in the middle of the night in August 2021. So much for international recognition.

Let us return to Yemen. The Ansar-Allah are not Iran’s puppets. Their leaders live in Sana‘a, the capital city, among their own people and make their own decisions. True, they have close relations with the Islamic Republic but that does not mean that the Ansar-Allah take their orders from Tehran.

The mercenaries in Yemen, on the other hand, are Saudi puppets. Their salaries, weapons and other paraphernalia are paid for by the Saudis. And the leaders of this so-called internationally recognized government reside not in Yemen but in hotels and luxury villas in Riyadh.

These facts are seldom mentioned in western media reporting. In fact, the Qatari regime-owned and financed media outlet, Al Jazeera, is notorious for such false depiction. In almost every paragraph of its reports on Yemen, Al Jazeera repeats the expression, “Iran-backed Houthis”. The Qatari outlet never mentions the fact that the regime in Doha is an American puppet.

The depiction of Ansar-Allah as Houthis is also erroneous. Houthi is the name of a clan from Sa‘dah in northwestern Yemen. Its leaders have emerged from there. The Ansar-Allah consist of many clans and tribes, including Sunnis.

Let us do a reality check and state the facts as they are. The Banu Saud regime in occupied Arabian Peninsula is a US puppet. It is inaccurate to call it the “Kingdom of Saudi Arabia”.

From the Islamic point of view, it amounts to shirk. The Arabian Peninsula is not owned by the Najdi Bedouins. The British colonialists installed them in power following the destruction and dismantlement of the Ottoman State at the beginning of the last century. The Najdi Bedouins stole the land, especially the Hijaz where they perpetrated horrible crimes. Since their illegal occupation, they have also desecrated many historical sites of Islam.

The other Arabian regimes—Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, the UAE, Jordan, Egypt etc—are no different. They are illegitimate entities created by the British colonialists to serve the west’s agenda. Today, they all serve as US puppets, without exception.

Perish the thought if the western media would refer to them by their correct categorization: US puppets. Some, like Jordan, Kuwait, the UAE and Bahrain are worse than others. Without exception, they are all also extremely hostile to Islam.

Nobody should be fooled by these puppet rulers building cathedral-type mosques. These are meant to hoodwink innocent Muslims into believing that they are sincere to Islam. They worship America, not Allah.

The Bani Saud’s occupation of the Arabian Peninsula is no different from the zionist occupation of Palestine. The overwhelming majority of zionists are illegal intruders from Europe, mainly Eastern Europe and carry extremely racist, anti-social views.

The heavily-armed zionist terrorists that storm Palestinian towns and villages are referred to in the western media as Israeli settlers. They are illegal squatters. These genocidal maniacs have no regard for human life. They take sadistic pleasure in killing Palestinian children as well as men and women.

And they have made no secret of their demonic plans to drive the Palestinians out of their homes and businesses both in the West Bank and in Gaza. The zionist genocide of Palestinians in Gaza continues despite a ceasefire since October 2025.

With minor exceptions, the entire western world backs the zionist war criminals. While Genocide Watch, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, B’Tselem and a host of other human rights organizations have declared that Israel is perpetrating genocide in Gaza, that has not prevented the western regimes from financing and arming it.

Instead, western rulers proudly proclaim that they share many values with Israel. Indeed. After all, these western regimes perpetrated genocides against indigenous peoples in North and South America as well as in Australia and New Zealand.

So the zionists are not doing anything different from what the European occupiers did in North America (the US and Canada), South America and Australia. If the European colonialists who invaded the shores of North America had not perpetrated the genocide, the indigenous peoples’ population would be more than 400 million today. Instead, they have been reduced to a few million, confined to remote reservations and a life of squalor, heavy drinking, gambling and prostitution.

They lack the basic amenities of life but are accused by the white European settlers of not taking responsibility for their plight! The Europeans stole their land, wiped out their source of livelihood—the Buffalo—and spread disease among them, yet are accused of being irresponsible.

One final point is in order. When referring to the US regime, every media outlet whether in the west or in Asia and Africa, calls it ‘administration’. Thus, we hear expressions like the Trump administration, the Biden administration or the Obama administration.

This inocuous-sounding expression is used to hide America’s ugly reality. It is an oligarchy where the billionaire class steals money from the poor who are asked to make sacrifices. The system facilitates this grand larceny.

Trump himself has accumulated at least $1.4 trillion since he reentered the White House in January 2025. His family has made even larger sums. Trump’s policies enable such theft.

The US is not a democracy, as the word is commonly understood. It is a land of crime and criminals in which the biggest criminals rise to the top and steal with both hands.
