The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has officially published in the Gazette the revocation of two Canadian ‘charities’ providing funds to the Canada-Israel war crimes project.
The CRA formally revoked the charitable status of the Jewish National Fund Canada and Ne'eman Foundation of Canada.
The August 10 announcement in Canada Gazette means taxpayers will no longer subsidize Ne'eman and JNF support of genocide.
Amid the ongoing horrors in Gaza, this is a small win for grassroots activism.
On January 23, 2023, Just Peace Activists sent a detailed request to CRA to audit Ne'eman Foundation of Canada.
It was signed by Rabbi David Mivasair and Khaled Mouammar, a Palestinian Christian who together with his family was evicted from his home Jerusalem in 1948.
The zionist occupiers have barred him from returning to his ancestral home ever since.
The submission to CRA included indication that the Ne'eman Foundation Canada (BN: 810956565 RR0001) was providing funds to organizations based in Israel that are involved in activities that in contravention of international law and Canadian policy.
Such activities do not comply with Canada's provisions related to charities under the Income Tax Act.
A number of “illegal” settler organizations were identified as receiving funds from Ne’eman Foundation Canada, along with organizations related to the Israeli military, including the undercover assassination unit, Duvdevan, and organizations for lone soldiers such as Michael Levin Base (Base for Lone Soldiers) and Brothers for Life, as well as donating to Reservists on Duty.
Ne’eman Foundation of Canada has also provided funds to Se’u Tziona Nes v’degel which fundraises for Daniella Weiss’ Nachla movement.
Weiss was added to the Canada sanctions list in June 2024.
On July 26, 2024, Just Peace Advocates held a press conference "Big Win for Palestine: Canada Revenue Agency revokes Jewish National Fund charitable status" that 20,000 watched & was covered by Al Jazeera (twice), TRT, Canadian Dimension, Middle East Eye and Electronic Intifada.
On August 9, PIPSC-IPFPC, a union representing over 17,000 Canada Revenue Agency professionals, "tweeted" that "as an organization that will always stand for human rights, we commend CRA’s decision to revoke the Jewish National Fund’s charitable status."
With the announcement in the Gazette, neither the Jewish National Fund of Canada nor Ne'eman Foundation of Canada can provide charitable tax receipts.
That, however, is not the end of the story of illegal activities by Jewish charities in Canada.
A quarter of the graduates from a Toronto school reportedly join the Israeli military.
Read about an alumnus of Bnei Avika Schools who was recently injured while stationed on a base in illegally occupied territory as well as his brother boasting about committing war crimes in the West Bank.
On August 9, Just Peace Advocates and others submitted a complaint to the Canada Revenue Agency detailing Bnei Avika’s violation of charity rules.
They have urged Canadians to take a minute to ask the CRA to investigate a school that's received tens of millions of dollars in public subsidy.
Further, that people take a minute to email the Justice Minister to investigate school officials for violating Canada’s Foreign Enlistment Act and students under Canada’s Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Act.
