BP oil disaster: another unconnected event?

Allah (swt) says in the Qur’an, “[Since they have become oblivious of their Lord], disintegration has appeared on land and in the sea as an outcome of what men’s hands have wrought; and so He will let them taste [the end result of] some of their doings

Allah (swt) says in the Qur’an, “[Since they have become oblivious of their Lord], disintegration has appeared on land and in the sea as an outcome of what men’s hands have wrought; and so He will let them taste [the end result of] some of their doings, so that they might return [to conformity with their Lord]” (30:41). Nothing exemplifies this more aptly than the explosion of millions of barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico, with British Petroleum (BP) being the main culprit and existential scapegoat. The scope of the continuing damage caused by the combination of runaway materialism/capitalism, corporate greed, arrogance, and imperial hubris; and the cost to the Earth and to future generations is incalculable. The same factors which came together to crash the world’s financial system have now come together to euthanize the world’s environment, to asphyxiate people’s livelihoods, and to suffocate the life out of the other creatures we share the Earth with. Certainly all this is not new; other disasters come to mind, however, each new disaster is worse than the one before and is always characterized as the worst one yet. And the character and the deleterious content of each disaster is commensurate with the level of God-denial, especially by the dominant power culture in the world.

But did this have to happen? And why hasn’t BP been roundly punished by gutting the company — in the same way it has gutted the entire ecosystem — and by using its assets to pay for the damages? Could anyone imagine what would have happened if an Iranian or Turkish oil corporation would have been in place of BP? Or is BP the lone wolf in this growing and unmanageable disaster? It took a couple of months, but important news reports — obviously not from the mainstream media which is bought and paid for by US corporations and the Zionist spin machine — and leaks are finally beginning to filter through.

Word has it that the US Geological Survey has indicated that there is a mother load of oil underneath the Gulf of Mexico, the only problem is that it is more than 30,000 ft. under. The US government in league with the Seven Sisters told BP to get to that oil as fast as humanly possible so that they would have an alternative source of oil in the event of the Persian Gulf getting locked up because of an Israeli/American airstrike on Iranian nuclear facilities. Some months ago, an article in Crescent attributed the agitation in Yemen and Somalia to the same phenomenon of securing alternative distribution channels for fossil fuels in case the Persian Gulf, where 65% of the world’s oil passes through, is no longer serviceable when war breaks out.

BP did what it was told to do, breaking in the process all records and bypassing every safety precaution in the books, not because it was dutifully following orders, but because it was blinded by the mega-profits that would accrue from developing these deep earth oil deposits. When BP finally cracked the earth that contained the oil deposits, it discovered that it did not have the technology to contain the volcanic levels of pressure that the deep earth oil was under, and the oil just exploded out of the hole in the manner of a pressure relief valve and it is still pouring out at uncontainable speeds.

In fact, no country has the technology to dig such deep oil wells safely. The Russians dug such a deep earth well, but they did it on land — not under the ocean — and even they did not have the technology to contain the pressures. Ultimately they had to use a nuclear weapon to melt the earth and thereby seal the hole. To stem the disaster, the US is under great pressure to do something; otherwise, with all the toxic gases leaking out of the oil fissure, in addition to millions of barrels of oil, they may have to evacuate the coastal areas of all the states bordering the Gulf of Mexico from Florida to Texas. Deep water oil plumes gushing out of the ocean floor have been identified 20 miles away from the BP oil well that exploded; environmentalists are saying that if something is not done very soon, up to one-third of the Earth’s water could become contaminated. The US is now also thinking of using a nuclear charge to seal the hole, but no one can predict the repercussions associated with exploding a nuclear device that far under the ocean’s surface. Some analysts suggest that with a nuclear explosion the sea floor in that area could rupture causing who knows what other exasperating consequences.

This is the price that has to be paid for Israel’s security. The Muslims have already been paying a heavy price over the last 100 years leading up to and since the establishment of this Zionist cancer, with the ruination of their economies, with the occupation and misuse of their resources, and with the bastardization of their representative mechanisms. Now the world is beginning to come to terms with what must happen in order for this pathogenic contagion to have the right to exist and for its corporate, military industrial, imperialist, and proxy dictatorial enablers to run amok around the world — a-whoring, a-pillaging, a-wrecking, and a-killing.

Why can’t we all learn about this group from the unflinching words of Allah (swt), “And the Yahud say, ‘Allah’s hand is shackled!’ It is their own hands that are shackled; and rejected [by Allah] are they because of this their annunciation. Nay, but wide are His hands stretched out: He dispenses [bounty] as He wills. But all that has been bestowed from on high upon you [O Prophet] by your Sustainer is bound to make many of them yet more stubborn in their overweening arrogance and in their denial of the truth. And so We have cast enmity and hatred among the followers [of previous scripture, to last] until Resurrection Day; every time they light the fires of war, Allah extinguishes them; and they labor hard to spread corruption on earth: and Allah does not love the spreaders of corruption” (5:64).

The ayah makes it clear that Allah (swt) will contain anyone who creates and spreads fasad on earth. No one has the license to run around and spread destruction in his wake, endangering and oppressing the bulk of human and non-human life on the planet. If this is the freedom America wants unchallenged, then we Muslims certainly hate that kind of freedom and any “values” associated with its licence — in principle and in deed, by force of words and by force of arms if need be. No one has such right, either assumed or granted.
