All angles being considered in Beirut explosion

The possibility of some external involvement triggering the explosions at Beirut port is becoming one of the factors during the ongoing investigation.

As reported by Asia Times, on August 7 Lebanese President Michel Aoun stated that “there are two possibilities for what happened. Either it was a result of negligence, or external interference by a missile or a bomb.”

In the same article Asia Times pointed out that explosives expert Danilo Coppe told Italian daily  that “I do not believe there was that amount of ammonium nitrate at the port of Beirut, nor that there was a fireworks depot…. When ammonium nitrate detonates, it generates an unmistakable yellow cloud. Instead, from the videos of the explosion, in addition to the white sphere that can be seen expanding – which is condensation of the sea air – you can clearly see a brick orange column tending to bright red, typical of lithium participation. Lithium-metal is a propellant for military missiles, so I think there were armaments there.”

Whatever caused the explosion, it may be that the truth lies somewhere in the middle. The incompetence of successive Lebanese governments in storing so much potentially explosive material without proper safety measures could have been utilized by some external dark force.

Google silences alternative media channels on its platforms

Under the guise of fighting “misinformation” US corporations are continuing to shut down media platforms with alternative perspectives.

On August 7 Washington based al-monitor.com reported that “Google announced it terminated 16 YouTube accounts in April that were allegedly linked to the Iranian state-sponsored International Union of Virtual Media network. The announcement was part of Google's report for the second quarter of 2020 that was released this week.”

Facebook and Twitter have also taken similar unilateral steps against Russian and Iranian media earlier this year.

Recent steps by Google once again highlight the fact that the concept of free-market and free-speech is subordinated to Western strategic interests. When NATO’s interests are at stake, their regimes do not hesitate to act in a blatantly crude manner as the dictators the NATO powers support in West Asia.

Unilateral targeting of alternative media outlets by Facebook, Twitter and Google may potentially accelerate the global drive to break their monopoly on news distribution.

Lebanese people reject arrogant French interference

French President Emmanuel Macron who has been brutally suppressing months long protests in his native France known as the Yellow-Vest movement, arrived in Beirut to preach to Lebanese how to govern a state.

Since coming to power and becoming known as the president of the rich, Macron’s period in office has witnessed some serious instability in France, politically and economically.

During his “humanitarian” visit, Macron called for a new political pact in Lebanon and stated that “I will be back on September 1, and if they can't do it, I'll take my political responsibility” as if Lebanon is a province of France.

Macron’s hypocrisy was not left unnoticed by thousands of Lebanese Twitter users who reminded the head of the neo-colonialist regime to mind his own business.

French president’s behavior once again highlights that the current situation in Lebanon will be used by Western powers to push their imperialist agenda in the region.

Another US official in charge of destabilizing Iran is out

Trump regime got rid of another pompous bureaucrat in charge of destabilizing Islamic Iran.

As reported by the US Congress financed RFERL, Brian Hook, the US regime's point man on Iran policy under President Donald Trump left his job and was replaced by Elliott Abrams, who oversees overthrowing the elected government in Venezuela.

After 40 years of having various Iran mission desks, departments and task forces, the US state apparatus has failed to stop the geopolitical ascendancy of the Islamic system in Iran.

Hook’s substitute is unlikely to make any significant headway in Washington’s attempts to topple the Islamic system as his modus operandi in Venezuela has been a complete failure and has ended in public political humiliation of the current White House regime.

Reacting to new bureaucratic reshuffle, the foreign ministry of Iran issued a statement saying that “when US policy concerns Iran, American officials have been biting off more than they can chew.”
