US edging toward civil war

As the US empire continues to decline, domestic situation is also beginning to resemble a prelude to civil war.

As reported by the British daily, The Independent, “elected officials in Portland have called on the Trump administration to remove militarized federal agents from the city following reports of protesters being arbitrarily detained… Oregon attorney general Ellen Rosenblum said she would file a lawsuit in federal court against the Department of Homeland Security, the Marshals Service, Customs and Border Protection and Federal Protection Service alleging they have violated the civil rights of Oregonians by detaining them without probable cause. She will also seek a temporary restraining order against them.”

Militarized US police have been out in full force in multiple cities cracking down on people protesting systemic racism and other forms of institutionalized oppression in the US.

With presidential elections around the corner and Donald Trump’s not so subtle declaration that he might not leave office if he loses the election, the US might find itself in a situation very similar to what it has created in many South American and West Asian countries.

Israel to continue supplying spyware to autocrats

Not surprisingly, “the Tel Aviv District Court dismissed July 12 Amnesty International’s petition to revoke the export license of Israeli spyware firm NSO Group, in an attempt to prevent the company from selling abroad its surveillance technologies. The human rights group had claimed in its petition that governments across the globe have used NSO cellphone hacking software Pegasus to spy on journalists and activists, and in particular spy on a member of Amnesty International.”

Zionist Israel has for decades backed the most despotic regional and non-regional regimes through political backing or military cooperation. Over the past several years, Israel has been supplying various dictators with high level means to spy on their domestic opponents.

Israel’s open technological assistance to brutal regimes continues to expose the Zionist entity as a malign force for peace and stability. While Israel aligns with dictators, societies that suffer from use of Israel’s spyware will naturally view it with disdain.

Father tells Julian Assange’s story of oppression

The Grayzone, an independent news website managed by Max Blumenthal, an award-winning American journalist, published an extended interview with Julian Assange’s father John Shipton.

In the interview, Mr. Shipton stated that “we fight against the United Kingdom, Sweden, the United States, and to a certain extent Australia. They have marshaled all of their forces and broken every law in human rights and due process in order to send Julian to the United States and destroy him. Before our eyes, we have watched the gradual murder of Julian through psychological torture, through ceaseless breaking of procedures and due process. So that is what we fight against… Australians say that they’ve offered consular assistance. When I say the Australians, DFAT (the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade), and the prime minister, and the foreign minister, Marise Payne, say that they have consular assistance over and over again. Their consular assistance consists offering last week’s newspaper and to see if he’s still alive. That’s about the extent of it.”

Assange’s work has provided the media with vast amounts of information through which they were able to increase their readership and popularity. Nevertheless, his plight is of little concern to the corporate media. If it is reported at all, Assange’s story is tucked away in the back pages.

It is highly unlikely that the NATO regimes Assange exposed will come to his rescue.

By keeping him in prison, NATO regimes will continue boosting Assange’s credibility and weakening their own.

UK chooses to remain Washington’s puppet

Having left the EU just when the global economy came to a halt due to the coronavirus, Britain had no choice but to become even more of Washington’s puppet.

The Diplomat reported last week that the British government “backtracked on plans to give Chinese telecommunications company Huawei a limited role in the U.K.’s new high-speed mobile phone network in a decision with broad implications for relations between London and Beijing. Britain said it imposed the ban after U.S. sanctions made it impossible to ensure the security of Huawei equipment, forcing it to start turning to other suppliers for components.”

Britain’s decision to ditch China when Washington is suffering economic and political decline seems shortsighted and will certainly create obstacles for British businesses doing work with China. Beijing is unlikely to forget how London chose to put Washington’s imperial agenda ahead of China’s and Britain’s commercial benefits which would have benefitted both societies.

US to continue pressuring Asian countries on China

On July 20 PressTV reported that “Beijing’s embassy in Myanmar says the United States is resorting to disgusting actions aimed at containing China by tarnishing its image and driving a wedge between the country and its neighbors over the disputed South China Sea and Hong Kong. The Chinese mission in Yangon said in a statement on Sunday [July 19] that Washington was outrageously smearing China by falsely claiming that Beijing was undermining the sovereignty of its Southeast Asian neighbors.”

As US-China tensions continue to escalate, Washington is likely to increase pressure on Asian countries to sideline China economically.

Due to China’s importance for global trade, such politically motivated moves are likely to harm the overall global economy. Moreover, they are likely to turn Asian countries against the US rather than China.

China is a natural trading partner for most developing economies in Asia. It will be difficult for the US to strongarm Asian countries to not do business with China.
